I have been born into a fortunate life, and would like to share it with a woman who, through no fault of her own, has been born into an unfortunate life. In Australia, woman can get help from the government if they have become a widow or no longer a have a partner to help raise their children. Also, education is easily available to nearly all. If this is not the case for some woman in India, that doesnt mean that they are any less of a person, just in a bad situation. If I travel to India, what are some relaxed ways to get to know women in unfortunate circumstances?

It's true that being Indian makes us no different, I mean we're women too. Well, I'm a girl. But I've actually seen a lot of white men with Indian girls. It's becoming more popular for Indians to date other races. But there still are a lot of traditional girls out there whose parents would never approve of another race. You should never approach this type. You have no chance. generally, you'll be able to tell the modern indian women from the traditional. The modern type tend to be more western, short hair, short skirts, and the parents seem to be pretty open. Sometimes the kids can be modern but the parents are still strict. Don't fall for this type either. You have to be careful, but the stereotypical image of the Indian girl is disappearing fast in America. You do have a chance. I'm not saying you don't. But why are you specifically looking for an Indian woman? That seems kinda weird.

How did you pitch upon India as a destination for meeting a girl in an unfortunae situation? If it is due to pity, then dont go ahead.

However, to get some idea of girls in unfortunate situations in India (or other developing countries), you could try to get information from the Indian Embassy in your country or the Australian Embassy in India. There is also a site www.india.gov from which you could get leads.
One word of caution: when a white skinned man tries to befriend a dark skinned women, anywhere in the world (not only in India), people begin to get suspicious of his intentions. It might be better to get the help of a trusted and respected friend of the country (here, India) to find out about the institutions that help such women. This is perhaps going to be a long drawn affair, but if you are genuinely serious about your intentions, then go ahead - good luck.

Almost all women in India are in "unfortunate circumstances", compared with women in Australia as Australia is one of the richest places on earth, with the benefits for women you mentioned and a plethora of others. If you like Indian women, there are probably plenty in Australia you can date, but they already have those economic/social benefits you can offer to an Indian who lives in India, of course! If you go to India, as it's more liberal than it used to be, you could meet, single women in social situations (bars, cafes, concerts, etc)....but it would take time and it's not cheap to be in India and you may need to get back within a few weeks to your job, etc!! Also, the women you're likely to meet are likely to be among India's most liberated, luckiest, richest, most independent women, so they don't feel like they should jump ship at the first opportunity that comes along (bit funny that...more talking about 19th century and before here: people who emigrated are thought of as these popular, heroic, pioneers....but if they were popular/rich at home, why would they feel so inclined to move? In reality, the poor, downtrodden, discriminated-against tended to move).

I'm partly Indian and go to India occasionally. Perhaps I can help you meet one! (Add me to Yahoo Messenger.)

First of all, that is a little bit strang that you have this fixation. If you really want to meet an Indian woman, just join match.com, and look for them there. It is not healthy that you want to "share" your life with someone born into an "unfortunate" life. No offense intended, but that's the fact Jack.
