It never was a threat to the USA. They made it sound as if it was to justify there war it don't look much good if they say we are invading Iraq cos don't want to pay for oil. or we are invading Iraq cos we don't like them. Bush and the US government isn't that dumb they new they needed to create a reason to invade. there are no evidents what so ever linking The Iraqi government to terrorism. Bin laden don't Even like there government and especially Saddam as it was none Muslim and consided by him offensive towards Islam.
We where all lied to that's how they got some support for Iraq.

once you're a US Citizen, we ought to continually have been observing the place our coaching funds have been going given your atrocious grammar and spelling (forgive me once you're fibbing and are a non-English speaker). back to the question... - We spend BILLIONS each and each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days on the instant in South Korea protecting our protection treaty responsibilities with the ROK, and we've spend billions extra in arising the Theater Missile protection gadget relatively for threats like the DPRK. - We ended the conflict in Iraq 4 years in the past, so as that dogs do no longer hunt. - Afghanistan became (and is) a accessible probability. North Korea in simple terms got here back into the media / public view in the final 4-5 months (back)... in the view of the DoD and Intelligence communities, it particularly is often there, and funds is spent.

Iraq does not directly threaten America. Think about this seriously: "Why does the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wants US troops to stay put in Iraq; and why does the kingdom objects to the US or UK in talking with Iran-Syria about settling the Iraq issue?" The threat is real. Very real. Go figure!

Iraq was a regional threat that attacked Iran (after the Sunni governments paid him to do it) and Kuwait after a dispute. Iraq also had detailed plans on how to make atomic weapons and already had chemical weapons. It constantly threatened Israel and after the invasion the U.S. saw how far Iraq was linked to terrorism outside of Iraq (everyone knew of the terrorism inside Iraq). The invasion also had it so the U.S. would surround Iran on three sides and Syria on at least one side.

It's not oil. If it was - where is it? gas prices haven't gone down much...and we don't get that much oil from iraq anyway.
all the dems in 98-00 and even before the war agreed that IRAQ WAS A THREAT AND THAT DIPLOMACY FAILED. THE DEMS AGREED. GET THAT THRU Y'ALL THICK SKULLS.
Why don't you talk to a bunch of troops that have been there. Ask them if we are doing the right thing and doing good over there. I've seen too many pictures of HAPPY IRAQI'S WITH TROOPS, and spoken to many troops - and only 1 of them out of talking with people since the war started who say we need to be there.
That's what I listen to. Not CNN. Not Dems or Repubs actually.

Iraq was a threat to the US for these reasons.
Iraq wanted, had and used WMDs. Iraq's nuclear program was derailed when Israel blew up a breeder reactor that was under construction and at the end of the first Gulf war when we required Iraq to dismantle it's nuclear program. Iraq used chemical weapons on Iran and on it's own citizens and was openly interested in biological weapons.
Saddam had proved he would use such weapons. It might turn out that the Anthrax attacks were actually Iraqi based. That isn't what is scary, what is scary is if Iraq were to get ahold of a new generation of biological weapon. Then use it and then have it mutate in the wild producing a virus that could potentially wipe humanity off the face of the earth. Iraq was not known for it's security. Iraq sympathized with terrorists. It would not be surprising if Iraq had nuclear weapons for Iraq to donate one of those weapons to terrorists or for it to have been stolen from Iraq and then used to destroy a US city.
Iraq clearly stated that they wanted such weapons. Openly pursued attempts to get them. Would not hesitate to use them. Sooner or later they would have gotten their hands on something dangerous if Saddam were allowed to remain in power.
Iraq worried our "allies". He was almost universally hated in the region. He had what was as close to a Seculer regime as any in the region. Saddam wanted all the power to himself. So he was hated by the religious extremists. He wanted to expand Iraq by force and was not shy about invading other nations. He invaded both Iran and Kuwait in just a ten year period. If left in power he would have invaded another nation sooner or later. The destability Saddam introduced in such a volatile region was unacceptable.
Saddam committed the biggest act of eco-terrorism in the history of the Earth probably. When he set fire to the Kuwaiti oilfields the ecological damage was massive. Saddam had made veiled threats to do the same to other oil producing nation's oil fields in retribution for comments he did not like by their leaders. This was both an ecological and economical disaster waiting to happen.
Iraq was a safe nation to invade. Our Arab "allies" I am certain asked us or encouraged us to invade Iraq. We needed leverage against other Arab nations to get them to co-operate with us in rooting out terrorists. Iraq was a perfect place to demonstrate we were serious and it worked. Most Arab nations imediately kicked terrorists out. Some actively helped the US in tracking down terrorists and terrorist funding. Instead of expensive overseas operations terrorists were forced to use home grown terrorist cells to carry out attacks on Western nations.
Last Saddam killed far more Iraqi's than people were killed in Bosnia by all the warring factions. If we sent military forces to Bosnia why not Iraq?
As for why we stayed after elections were complete and Saddam captured, that I do not know.

It's not that Saddam was going to invade us, it's that he had the capability of assisting terrorists by giving them money and technical expertise. Terrorists don't build their own weapons, they get them from governments. Iraq had a nuclear program, and thousands of gallons of nerve agents unaccounted for. They had them in 1998 when the UN inspectors were kicked out of Iraq and there was no reason to believe that they destroyed those agents. If that material was given to terrorists, it could have been delivered on US soil.
So in other words, it's not the people of Iraq that were the threat (they weren't in support of Saddam anyway) it's Iraq's money and technical knowledge that was a threat.

Pray for him and those in the Whitehouse...
Read this Book Written by Social scientists and anthropologists: We would not be "chickens". We would actually be helping them save face and honor according to their culture and Trust me they are far different than western culture and thinking. We need to leave before they do turn on us. We need to be taking care of home first. Our brand of democracy will not ever work over there, nor do they have any concept of what our version of freedom is.
The Book is Called: "Friends by Day and Enemies by Night" written by Lincoln Keiser, Trust me, you will finish it is one or two sittings!

You have to understand the Texan Oil Man is not going to let his friends investment (Haliburton and the Saudi Princes) using tax payers dollars just go down the drain no matter how much the public sees this invasion for what it was. Just be thankful you have a congress who is not just going to write him a check every time he holds out his hand.
