ok i'm a new driver and i was just wondering what i should do with my left leg when i'm driving. i already asked my mom and she said just find a comfortable position. but i can't cuz i have a hip problem so if my leg is bent at the knee and close to my chair, it hurts my hip. and it's pretty much the same deal if my leg is outstretched...even though i can't really stretch it that much because then my foot ends up near the emergency brake.

any suggestions? i was thinking about having it amputated lol j/k. but i will absolutely not drive with my leg in my seat.

There's usually a place under the parking brake to put it. Put some pressure on it to relieve the pain.

Back in the stone age when I was taught to drive, we learned to brake with our left foot!

On long trips when I get real bored--I use my left foot to drive and brake.

get a car with a hand brake hence more foot roon for your left foot the put a rest there just a old plank anything so your left foot is at the same distance as your right. do not amputate a good leg.

When i took drivers training they said that your left foot should sit comfortably on the little hump to the left of the emergency brake
try everything there is no set way as long as your not in any danger of hurting yourself in an accident

why not? i drive with my leg in the seat, especially if im on a long road trip. you gotta make yourself comfortable and if that's what it takes just do it. i like to drive with no shoes. it reminds me of home(in the country), and that's how i grew up learning to drive. putting your leg under your other on the seat looks like your only option since the other positions hurt your hip. go ahead its not illegal.

try using a small pillow to prop next to your hip.
I had to get creative when I was pregnant. I could barely touch the pedals and keep the seat back far enough for my tummy. The pillows works wonders. Good Luck!

I usually stick my foot underneath the emergency break pedal. Usually in just about every car there's enough space for it, and I have pretty big feet.

install a dead pedal
the seat should be the issue here, not your leg. If you have a good supporting seat then your hip will be fine.

there should be a rest "dead" pedal on the left. u don't have to outstretched ur leg. If ur right leg able to reach the gas pedal then ur left leg should be able to rest on the dead pedal, unless ur legs are uneven j/k

YOU HAVE BASICALLY GAVE ALL SUGGESTION FOR YOUR SELF. EITHER KEEP IT SLIGHTLY TUCKED OR EXTENDED SLIGHTLY. I KEEP THE BEAT WITH MUSIC WITH MY LEFT FOOT, WHILE I AM DRIVING TO KEEP IT FROM GOING TO SLEEP. WHICH IS KINDA HARD, SO DONOT TRY IT GOING DONE THE INTERSTATE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
