vaseline mistake in hair?

Question

I have dry hair and while I was conditioning it in the shower tonight I mixed in some vaseline because I thought it would give extra conditioning. My hair doesn't feel greasy or strange, but I read on the Internet a few moments ago that vaseline can damage hair. I don't think that very much vaseline was absorbed, but I am still worried. Does anyone know about this? Should I do anything else to my hair to try to get the vaseline out?

Vaseline will not damage the hair. Don't worry. I just finished cosmetology school recently. We used Vaseline for the base cream before doing a color service or relaxer service. for the next couple of days, shampoo twice and condition once. but don't worry, your hair is fine.

Well when my sister was a baby (she's 6 now and has beautiful hair) she somehow got a hold of the vaseline! and trust me vaseline is not harmful at all to ur hair! my mother tells me and i know it because my sister was a BABY and her hair didn't fall out or have any damage actually after the stickiness wore off her hair was smoother that ever! :) you'll be fine Hope this helped :O :D

keeping vaseline in the hair is not a good idea,so to get rid from it ,try this- pat a little cornstarch into the hair to absorb the vaseline & then wash. Or mix five ml( 1 tsp) of baking soda with a baby shampoo & wash yr hair with it.

i don't know about damaging it but when i was 6 i put vaseline in my hair. A LOT of vaseline... like a whole handfull. it took over a week for it to wash out.

My son put vaseline in his hair when he was about 3, as a hair gel! I was told by a hairdresser to wash it out with Fairy Washing-up Liquid. It worked a treat.

Wash your hair with Dawn Dishwashing Liquid then condition it really well afterwards.
Vasoline is really bad for your hair. It holds the dirt in your hair, and makes your hair limp and greasy looking.

if any thing use hot oil if your looking for that little extra

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF VASELINE DAMAGING HAIR,I DON'T BELIEVE THAT CAN BE TRUE,IF ITS SAFE ENOUGH TO PUT ON A BABY,IT CANT BE DAMAGING TO HAIR,THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO TO REMOVE IT FROM YOUR HAIR IS TO WASH.

oh it just a bunch of bunk, try using dish soap to get it all out then deep mask condition it, i know a guy at work that has beautiful long black hair and he uses mayonnaise to make it shine,

I Used it all the time in my hair and it doesn't damage my hair.....so don't worry......just do your head scalp not the hair......on the hair use hot oil treatments.
