the myth of mary's perpetual virginity is only a theory that someone cocluded must be in order for Mary the mother of God to be Pure always.
The only thing is that Joseph perpetuated procreation after jesus was born, so there is no way she could be a virgin with seconds births.
Of course Joseph was a VERY OLD MAN when he died. and Mary was His second Wife, not his first.
So everytime you the story of the nativity and you see two YOUNG people in "LOVE", just remember, to Joseph it was more of a burden to take Mary as his betrothed.
as for JAMES, there was an older brother of Jesus and a Younger brother and two sisters mentioned in the scriptures

No James was not from a virgin birth. Why would he be? Of course Joseph had sex with Mary they were married. It's unrealistic and unholy to expect marriage to be without sex.

James is Jesu's half brother. Mary was both their mothers, but Jame's fater was Joseph. Yes, she had sex with Joseph before James was born. Unlike Jesus, James was 100% human. Jesus was God, with a human body.

in hebrew, as in other languages, the word for "cousin" actually sounds more like "other brother" or "other sister". Translating these relationships into English is more difficult than with other languages. In Ukrainian, for instance, it is translated as "cousin" not brother. That's my take on it anyway. I don't believe St Joseph had children from another marriage, he, like Mary, wished to live his life out as a single person dedicated to God, since he probably worked on rebuilding the temple and had made a vow. Because Mary had lived at the temple from the time she was 3, it was the responsibility of the temple elders to engage her to someone of the house of David, as was tradition. There were several men of that tribe chosen, and they were instructed to place their staffs in the inner sanctuary for one night. When they came back in the morning, Joseph's staff had bloomed. They took this as a sign from God that he was to be the one, and trust me, he was more surprised than anyone, since he thought God knew about his vow. When he found out about Mary's vow, then he was amazed at the way God had worked it all out for them. The young man who had not been chosen was very rich. He gave all his wealth away, and went to live on Mt Carmel in prayer and fasting. Great things were afoot. And noble deeds were done.
