Most books I've read suggest drinking 8 glasses of water per day.

Does it have to be pure water. Can I drink 2 glasses of juice, 2 cups of tea and perhaps 4 glasses of pure water?

Supposed to be a water based drink that you can see through. Not sugar based soft drinks. Some Doctors say it has to be water, not tea, lemonade or juice. Just water. 8 cups is a lot to drink in one day

Drinking 2 glasses of juice can be possibly an additional 240 calories you're consuming.

Think about that. If you're eating just enough to maintain your bodyweight and you add onto that the 2 glasses of juice daily.

You would put on an additional 2 lbs.
Now look at that 12 months from now if you keep that up and you're talking about close to 24 lbs of weight gain.

The benefit of getting your water, from water is the fact it's ZERO calories.

My suggestion: Stick to the water. Green tea is good but the juices, a big no no.

Many patients ask me how they can slim down. I am against prescription pills because I prescribed them many years ago, and some of my patients became very ill.

I now recommend that people eat right and exercise. However, if they would like a little "help", I now recommend Hoodia (it's important to note that not all Hoodia works well, even if the bottle says "pure" or "standard".

The Hoodia being sold at http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php is in my opinion, the best product on the market. It's pure, no side effects, and it's only $4.97 for 2 weeks (yes, less than $5 !). My patients have seen dramatic results with this particular Hoodia.

No, it doesn't have to be pure water, but liquid calories sneak up on so many people. People forget to add in the 200 calories from their 2 cups of OJ, etc, etc. I'd personally rather eat 200 calories of food with fiber and no preservatives in it than feel like I'm wasting the 200 calories on a liquid when my thirst could easily have been quenched with water.

Plus, sugary drinks can make plain water taste really terrible, which can make you not drink as much as you should.

Foods with high water content like fruits and veggies can also technically go towards your daily water tally.

when it comes to weight loss and even regular every day activity, your body produces toxins in your blood that can make you retain water, gain or hold weight, make you sick, and dull your complexion, not to mention hair, nails and skin.... when you drink water, it helps flush the toxins out of your body through your urine. Doctors say 8 glasses (that's 8 8oz glasses) of water per day per average sized adult. if you're overweight, like me, you're supposed to drink up to twice the normal amount of water. so, if you add things to your water, it might not be 100% as effective as normal water...

also, water contains minerals and oxygen that your body needs.... if you use purified water, it takes most of those minerals out, but it's hard to find water that's not purified unless you have a well in your back yard. and, even then, there's usually worse things in the water than not drinking water at all....

now, coffee, tea, soda, anything with any amount of caffeine will actually dehydrate you, and you're supposed to drink your 8 glasses of water on top of twice the amount of water per cup of coffee...

it seems like a lot, and it is, but if you think about it, it's like drinking two large bottled water bottles a day. if you start in the am, then by evening, you'll be ready to open your third or forth bottle.... lol

hope that helps... good luck!!!

put lemon it it or they have fitness waters like propel and flavored waters that have less than 10 calories and no sugar.those can count as water. it is just recommended that half of your water be water and juices and other beverages can count as long as it has no caffeine in it. This is what was told to me at my weight watchers program. or at least you can start there with half being water and work up to all 8 being water. It's easier that way and not so over whelming if you are not use to drinking a lot of water

Some people never drink water just cokes and/or beer.
But they are not as healthy as someone who drinks 8 glasses
of pure water a day.

You can live for weeks without food, but you will die within days if deprived of water.

Some of the problems caused by not drinking enough water are
dehydration, kidney disease, bladder infection, and electrolyte imbalance just to name a few.

8 glasses of fluids a day AT LEAST. But that's just for the average healthy person. How many and what kind of fluid depends on how your health, dietary requirements/limitations is, such as if you have kidney problems, diabetes, anxiety or insomnia to name a few. If you have anxiety probs, avoiding fluids w/ caffiene would be wise. Or if you have bad kidneys and is on dialysis you have to watch the electrolyte levels (for example sodium and potassium) of what your drinking and limit how much fluid to take in a day, some are limited to just a liter a day! And drinking less fluids a few hours before sleeping would help if you have urinary frequency at night. (get my point now?) So i would say, if you're healthy drink as may fluids as you can, you'll just eliminate it through your urine anyway.

I've read that you are supposed to drink 1 liter of pure water for every 50 lbs of body weight. It's important to keep hydrated for many of the metabolic processes occuring in the body. Keeping hydrated may also give you the feeling of added energy. Hope this helps!
