I am so worried. My son will be 3 and he doesn't say sentences just short words. He seems very smart, but points to everything. We've tried the don't give it to him if he points until he says what he wants, but he doesn't. He had a hearing test. He hears fine. Advice anyone? What did you do if this happened to you?

My daughter didn't talk other than monosyllables until 2 1/2, then she started with the whole sentences.

As long as his pediatrician is aware of the issue and he says everything will work out OK, I'd just let him be.
Sometimes it seems that children don't talk because they don't feel the need to....so take it that you're giving him everything he needs.

Good LUCK!

All babies go at different rates My son spoke sentences at 6 Mt's but not a lot. Then by age 1 year he had a large vocabulary. But he was considered very early.
I think the reason he talked so well is we talked to him while he was in the womb, even I played tapes read to him played music so words were not strange to him.He was always very gifted.

Honey just stick it out talk to him all the time read to him when he wants a cookie try to make him say or attempt cookie.
We have a 3 year old at church who barley walks or speaks.
I told the mom make him walk to the side of you within one week he was walking well. He also wasn't very verbal He wanted some cake I had I said do you want some cake say YES PLEASE at first he balked but I ignored him Then I repeated CAKE PLEASE he looked at my lips said CAKE Please Praised him what a good boy he was yelling yea and clapping , He was kind of stuttering but he did it .I gave him just a little cake . Then he wanted more. I said say More cake please he did better that time .
The thing with children is do not give in when the want something and use favorite things to get them to talk repeating slow and say look at mommy mouth CAKE PLEASE moving your mouth. Have him feel your lips while you do it then have him feel your lips.
Your kid will be talking in No time and he won't be able to shut him up. Talk and read to him all the time and it will pay off for you
Praise Praise Praise..

depending upon his care provider, it could be because he isn't being talked to much, or spending time with an adult who can teach her. I have a nephew, sweet as ever, but he just cannot talk because his mother and father do not spend time with him and let him play outdoors alone at the age of 2. You can tell he doesn't get much attention, he grunts and points instead of asking for things he wants. Check into that first.

My son is the same way.. although he goes on forever in his own language. I've read it's normal and some children don't start speaking in full sentences until they are 4.

Try not to draw any attention at all to his speech. Just be patient, and I cannot almost guarantee you will be calling him motor mouth in another year.
