Give him gift certificates for movies/dinner, things you can enjoy together. Other than that, tailor things to his likes and dislikes. Talk to him, see what he wants, ask him what he wants. perhaps even suggest instead of purchasing each other gifts u split on a night out togther.

If you really like the person and feel that you want to impress her with something intimate get her diamond chip earrings. Not huge ones just pretty earrings. Or a pretty bracelet. If you don't want to go that way then get something that you both have an interest in. Like video games, movies, etc.
