For all you practicing Jews out there, here is my question, have any of you noticed the similarities between Jews and Seventh-Day Adventists? I think the only difference is the belief that Jesus is the Messiah.

By the way, why don't Jews believe that Jesus is the son of God?

And do Jews read the same old testament portion of the Bible that protestants read?

>>"why don't Jews believe that Jesus is the son of God?"<<

this is one of the most common, and both most simple, and most complex to answer.

the simple answer:
because Jesus was not the messiah.

slightly more complex...
what chrisitanity thinks jesus was, is not what the jewish messiah is or was supposed to be.

the jewish messiah was never supposed to be a blood sacrifice, or any more divine than a regular person.

it really is simple as that.

God is ONE. undivided.

an analogy that myself and a friend worked out, was that for Christainity, God is like a tree, with the trunk split into 3 parts. each part like its own tree in some ways, but ultimately all one tree.

where the Jewish (and most of islam, as far as I know) God, is more like a perfect stone Obelisk. absolutely singular and undivided.

from the christian perspective, their split tree is one tree, and just as 1 as the monolith.

but from the jewish view... most of christianity is polytheistic, even though its one tree.

but not all of christianity is it really even 1 split tree, but 3 trees.

I am not that much of a practicing Jew, but here is some information about the Jewish belief in the Messiah:

As far as why don't Jews believe that Jesus is the son of God - basically, there is nothing in the Jewish religion that would lead any Jew into believing that. You might as well ask why Jews don't believe that George Washington is the son of God. The whole concept of God having a son is alien to Judaism.

I think that the Christian version of the Old Testament is the same, except that there are many mistranslations in the Christian version. These were intentional mistranslations made to trick people into thinking that the Old Testament had references to the story of Jesus.

There are a few more differences such as the concept of original sin, the afterlife, repentance/atonement, the trinity, ect

as for why dont Jews believe that Jesus is divine is because we believe that G-d is complete and and inadvisable. To say that G-d has parts is like saying he is limited.

as for your third question there are differences depending on if you go by the LXX (Septuagint) or the Masoretic texts (MT)

but the books are the same.

where do you think the concept of Apocrypha came from?

The main prayer of Judiasm translates to ....Hear Oh Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Christians believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost (3) Three minus one is two which are for Jews two too many. Jesus did commenable work while on earth and one has to admire his teaching which is just as good now as it was then I am Jewish Merry Xmas to all my fellow Christian yAHOOS

How many legs will a puppy have if you happen to referred to as the tail a leg? Four, in view that a tail isn't a leg. Do you get it? You obviously have the proper to consider what you are going to however please don't assume me to consider some thing that is not precise. You do not say whether or not you have been born to a Jewish mom after which began believing in Jesus or if you were not Jewish to start with. If you have been born to a Jewish mom, you're now an apostate Jew and considered that means by means of each denomination of Judaism. If you have been under no circumstances Jewish to start with, you obviously can't name your self that in view that it appeals to you. I bet we will ought to conform to disagree.
