Good question, Red Eye. I'm a devout Christian and I could question God all day long about why He chooses to do things the way He does. Honestly, I think the reason He did all those things in ancient times instead of doing them now is because He took into account our growing technology. If an "angel of the lord" appeared in Times Square for millions of people to see" in this day and age, do you really think it would make believers out of all of us? Wouldn't people still call it a hoax? I think they would. Jesus once said, "Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe." The word "blessed" means happy. I can vouch that the saying is true. I have not seen, chosen to believe, and I am extremely happy for having done it. If your faith in atheism leaves you unfulfilled, perhaps you would like to put your faith in something else. I always enjoy your questions and find them very challenging. I hope to meet you in Heaven someday.

Simply because people wouldn't believe that either. They'd say that it's a magic trick or a hoax. Those that wanted to believe Jesus was God 2000 years ago did so, and those who didn't want to didn't.
A person rising from the dead, and ascending into heaven in front of eleven witnesses wasn't enough 2000 years ago.

Just seeing angels or Jesus for that matter wouldn't make everyone believe that Jesus is who he says he is. Many people DID see him, and still refused to believe that he is the Son of God. God doesn't want to make you believe, he lets you choose Him. Faith isn't based on sight...it's being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

What's wrong with there always being someone on the planet-- at all times instead of just sending one messenger "for all time" ?? What was so special about the people of that time that they should have a live messenger to deliver God's word and we have to take the word of someone who died over 2,000 years ago and rely on ancient text? Something about that is just *wrong*.
I don't question the message that Jesus preached ... but I believe it was for the people of that time. (Hence, "no one goes to the Father, except through me." )

After the Church age, during the Tribulation, it seems that He will send His angels to proclaim the Everlasting Gospel to humans.
But during this Church age it seems that Christ, the Head of the Church, has entrusted the proclamation of the Good News to Believers.
---------------------------------------
the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
---------------------------------------
Do you think people would believe an Angel appearing in Times Square? Even if millions saw him would many be converted?
As the Scripture says:
If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
They HAVE "Moses and the prophets"; they have their Writings. And since the event in St. Luke 16, even ONE has RISEN from the dead. And was seen by over 500 persons at one time.
And still people prefer to believe anything except the Truth.

He did when He sent Jesus to the Earth. Angels? Are you kidding? Maybe you miss them passing you by on the streets...

God is not in the business of "quick fixes". Without "FAITH" you have nothing!
Sounds simple enough, right? Try it... it's not so easy as one might think. In fact, it's darn near impossible! But, that's the one thing tat pleases God the most... faith in Him and - that He exists, without seeing Him!
Sorry!

It's about choice - God is about love and He wants to have a loving relationship with us.
Here's a tip about love - you can't force people to love you, so if God or one of His angels suddenly appeared and said "HEY HERE I AM" yes people would believe in God but would they love Him. Would they worship out of love or fear?
That's why we have the choice: God made us in love, He made us with Love and He made us for love, but He also gave us the freedom of choice not to love. So that when we do love Him our love is genuine and cincere and not out of fear.
