I feel hungry all the time! I know I am eating too much; easily over 2,000 calories a day. Someone of my height and weight only needs about 1,500 as it is, and that makes me WAY too hungry. What are some ways to trick my stomach into feeling full? I don't know why my body is telling itself it needs to eat more when it doesn't. Also, I know its a common suggestion, but please don't say to drink water. That backfires for me and makes me MORE hungry!!! I don't know why, but it does!

Could be several different things that may work for you.

First, you could try eating more fat. Fat is essential in your body, so you can't avoid it forever. Fat tends to keep people satisfied for longer periods of time. I don't mean a piece of pizza though - you can get fats from nuts, meat, cheese, etc.

Second, you could try eating more foods that are not very calorie dense. That mostly means vegetables. You can eat a lot of vegetables to fill you up as long as you don't put a lot of dressings or butter on them. Low calories, but lots of food to fill you up.

Make sure you eat nutrient rich foods. The body gets hungry to not only show it needs calories, but also to tell you it needs nutrients. That means fruits, veggies, lean meats (chicken, turkey and fish are good choices), nuts, seeds, etc.

And yes, I know you don't want to hear it, but please do make sure to drink at least 80 oz of water. Not to keep you full, but to make sure your body has enough water in it so it can transform carbs into energy (glycogen). Water is necessary for this process. If you don't drink enough water, the carbs will just be added calories.

And exercise is definitely not going to make you feel less hungry, but if you do it earlier in the day it may help you stay more on track with your diet. Exercise burns calories, and the body's natural response is to tell you to replace them - reason for hunger.

Any chance you are eating out of emotional issues or boredom? No biggie really - lots of people do it, but getting in the habit of asking yourself whether you're hungry or not before you put something in your mouth can be helpful.

Also, don't necessarily go by calories. Go by how you feel and look. Some people can eat 2000 calories a day and stay at a size and fitness level that they enjoy, and some can't. If you can eat 2000 calories per day and manage to maintain your weight, there should be no guilt for consuming the calories.

Are you really hungry or just bored or an emotional eater? Or do you just want that yummy flavour burst that comes with eating chocolate or chips and cheeses etc?Next time you feel like eating ask yourself if your hungry enough to eat an apple? If you don't want the apple but you do want the chips then your not really hungry and you just need to have a little self control. This may or may not work for you but it's a good way to establish if your hunger is genuine!

What is your current height and weight? Are you gaining weight? Are you on any medications that may increase appetite? Are you under a lot of stress? Need more info. But exercise really does help regulate appetite. Or try meditation.

some say starvation is the final urge for foodstuff. in case you're already peckish, attempt having "moreish" ingredients, particularly those containing MSG or umami flavours. Pr_ngles crisps/chips do the trick incredibly. in case you're no longer feeling nicely, my organic e book exhibits eating a organic tea made up of fenugreek seeds 30 minutes previously a meal.

Eat more protein.

Take a look at this...

Eating protein boosts hormone that staves off hunger

The amount of a hunger-fighting hormone can be increased by eating a higher protein diet, researchers report in the September issue of the journal Cell Metabolism, published by Cell Press. The hormone, known as peptide YY (PYY), was earlier found by the researchers to reduce food intake by a third in both normal-weight and obese people when given by injection.
"We've now found that increasing the protein content of the diet augments the body's own PYY, helping to reduce hunger and aid weight loss," said Medical Research Council clinician scientist Rachel Batterham of University College London, who led the new study.

Scientists have known that high-protein content meals make people feel more full and reduce food intake, resulting in improvements in weight loss and weight loss maintenance. However, the mechanism responsible remained elusive.

In a study in normal-weight and obese people, the researchers now show that enhanced-protein meals stimulate greater release of PYY than either high-fat or high-carbohydrate meals and result in a greater reduction of hunger.

Further investigation in mice supported the human study results. High-protein diets reduced the number of calories animals consumed and increased their PYY levels. Mice fed a high-protein diet also gained less weight and produced more PYY than animals that ate the usual amount of protein, they found.

In addition, the researchers found that genetically modified mice unable to produce PYY ate more and became markedly obese. The genetically modified mice were also resistant to the beneficial effects of a high-protein diet, the researchers reported, demonstrating a direct connection between protein and PYY.

When the researchers treated those hormone-deficient mice with PYY, the animals lost weight.

"The findings show that PYY deficiency can cause obesity and that PYY appears to mediate the beneficial effects of increased-protein content diets," Batterham said. "One potential weight loss strategy is therefore to increase the satiating power of the diet and promote weight loss through the addition of dietary protein--harnessing our own satiety system.

"Such a diet is perhaps more typical to that of our hunter-gatherer ancestors," she added.

The average Western diet derives 49% of energy intake from carbohydrate, 35% from fat, and 16% from protein, Batterham said. That differs considerably from the diet of hunter-gatherers, who ate as much as twice the amount of protein.

try to consume high fiber food. best sources are fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and legumes, and whole-grain foods. it can help to keep unwanted pounds off. furthermore, a high-fiber meal helps stave off hunger because its cellular structure takes longer to break down in the intestinal tract.

according to your weight, you are around 62.2 kg, and 164.6cm.
by using BMI (a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women), you are about 22.96, which mean you are still in normal range. so, not to worry about your weight, you are still having prefect weight.

Formula: weight (kg) / [height (m)]2

Calculation: [weight (kg) / height (m) / height (m)]

or

Formula: weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703

Calculation: [weight (lb) / height (in) / height (in)] x 703

Category:
* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

good luck ;)
