i need to request a base for station, i REALLY want kids to go ON BASE, my oldest is going into 6th grade. please help.
also recommend a great base for kids/families.

Overseas have them on base.
There are very few on base in the states. The ones I know I would not suggest because I hated the base schools as a kid in the states.

I know that Edwards, Calif does. I went to school there. Also, the base in Montana has a school right outside the gates but many kids get bussed to other schools as well. Of course, that was ages ago and things may have changed. But I know that all grades are on base in Edwards because there isn't a close enough town to bus the kids to school. Hmmm, that is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. All the other bases I was stationed at as a kid had schools of base. And now that my hubby is in the miltary we've been overseas the whole time.
*note: not all overseas bases have the schools right on base. I graduated from a high school in Holland that was not on base.

I know a lot of DOD schools are working more with communities to have schools in the communities for several reasons: because it brings the community and the post closer together, a lot of young couples are choosing to live off-post because they are young and want to live in a different setting, and funding for repairs/renovations/new DOD schools are very hard to come by.
Travis AFB is pretty good from what I heard.

I was stationed at McChord, (Washington) and they had the school right on base in base housing. Also, most of the overseas bases.
