i travel every week. at least 3 times a week. lately ive been on those smaller planes alot. i know its because its shorter distances. for instance from EWR to IAD, is only an hour so they use the 50 passenger planes which is either embr or crj.. my only concern about these planes are, that when taking off and landing, and even when doing turns, i feel like im going to die literally. i just dont feel safe in these planes. u feel every single bump. i have anxiety attacks before the plane takes off, but i have no choice but to fly...i just wnat some to reassure me that these planes are safe

alright, to ease your fear, I will explain stuff to you. I am a pilot of a CRJ. I fly these things every day, or damn near every day. I realize that they are not as comfortable as mainline aircraft, but they are very safe. The reason that they are operating is strictly a matter of cost. They are cheaper and easier to operate than larger planes. Do not worry, these planes are safe. If it would make you feel better, sit over the wings; this part is the most structurally sound part of the aircraft. Hope this helps and I hope to see you on a flight soon!

I also travel frequently and in the winter Malev always uses the CRJ because the tourist season is over and I used to be scared but they are very safe. I am not a pilot but I would think the smaller planes are easier to control aswell which makes them safe. It is only the feeling of being tightly confined. In general my favorite are the 777 and 747 and the new airbus because you feel like you aren't even in a plane.

I also travel by air weekly. Have flown the EMBR & CRJ several times. I agree that since they are lighter, they are more susesipitble to get jostled in turbulence. However, I think both types are extremely safe and reliable. They are not as cumbersome, and easier for pilots to fly. Especially take off and landing. Their size provides for increased manuverability, which results in the sharper turns.
Keep in mind that most corporate jets are this size or smaller. I hope you can put your mind to rest regarding their safety.

Safe travel.
