Muslims believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) wasn't killed, but the people were tricked into thinking he was. (It's unclear whether they killed someone else by mistake, like Barabbus or Judas, or whether they thought he died on the cross but was still alive, or everyone was made to hallucinate, etc.) According to Islam, he was raised up directly into heaven, body and all, and did not die yet. He will return, kill the anti-Christ, convert the Christians and Jews to Islam, stop the eating of pork, fight Gog and Magog, and marry and raise a family, then die and be buried in Medina.

I don't think he was resurrected (yet, if you include Judgement Day). Why did the disciples panic when he showed up 3 days later? (None of them saw his "crucifixion" and they only heard the rumors of his death) If he was resurrected, why was he able to eat, when the bible says everyone gets a spiritual (non-physical) body?

Not Muslim. But, could someone tell me what happened to the body of Jesus?

The Silent Witness

The first evidence the disciples had for the resurrection was that of the empty tomb, and this evidence is still unanswerable.

As Peter and John entered the tomb, they saw an amazing thing. The heavy wrappings of linen clothes which Joseph and Nicodemus had wound around the body of Jesus (John 19:39,40) were still there, just as they had been, but the body had vanished out of them and the grave clothes had, as it were, collapsed inward on themselves or left the impression as a baloon, having been deflated.

The evidence within the tomb was so convincing to John that the Bible says; "he saw and believed!' (John 20:8).

His doubts and fears immediately gave way to an amazed faith.

The collapsed grave clothes yielded no possible interpretation except that the physical body of the crucified Christ had returned to life, in such a remarkable form that it could simply pass through the linen wrappings and enter henceforth into the power of an endless life!

The Second evidence within the Tomb was what I refer to as the Silent Witness.

Back in John 20: 2- 6 We have Peter and John after hearing the report from Mary Magdalene, that the tomb was empty, took off in a hard run, to the tomb. In verse 4 we see that John was running so fast that he outran Peter, and arrived at the tomb first. Then, in curiosity and caution, he stooped down, looking in and saw the linen clothes lying. Then cometh Peter, and he went into the tomb and saw the linen clothes lie.

However, our attention is directed to verse 7. "And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but was wrapped together (or folded) in a place "by itself."

Then, John enters the tomb behind Peter and seeth the same things. And when John saw, the Bible says… he saw, and believed. He saw and believed that Jesus had indeed, rose from the grave.

The two evidence’s inside the tomb was

1. The Linen Clothes.

2. The Facial Napkin.

Our attention is now directed to the facial napkin. For it was folded and lying to the side, away from the linen clothes that had covered his body.

However, the mystery in the evidence of the folded napkin, the silent witness, comes to use from Jewish customs.

For it was during the Jewish festival, when one of the members had to leave the table. The individual would take his napkin and fold it a certain way, and leave it, as a signal to other members at the table, that he had to leave, but would be back shortly!

When John saw the napkin lying by itself, and folded the way it was, he knew beyond a shadow of doubt, that Jesus, had indeed, rose from the grave, and had exited the tomb. But, would be back!

This, along with the linen clothes, was the evidence that John "SAW" AND BELIEVED!

Peter and John then rushed back to John's home, probably to tell Mary, the mother of Jesus, the tremendous news (See John 19:27; 20:10) and, shortly after, the women who had first come to the tomb entered it and also saw the tomb was empty (Luke 24:3).

The fact that the tomb was empty shows clearly that the resurrection of Christ was a bodily resurrection, noted spiritual resurrection. The latter idea is a self-contradiction, in fact, because the spirit does not die and therefore cannot be "resurrected." Indeed, resurrection takes place when the spirit returns to the body from which it has departed.

So powerful is the testimony of the empty tomb that the enemies of Christ have resorted to many strange and wonderful devices to try to explain it away. The first such attempt was the lie that the disciples had stolen the body (Matthew 28:11-15).

Such a thing was utterly out of the question, of course. The disciples were hiding in fear of their lives and nothing could have been further from their thoughts than this.

Furthermore, the tomb had been sealed, a great stone rolled in front of it, and a watch of Roman soldiers set to guard it
(Matthew 27:62-66). The Roman Guard consisted of 16 men!

Then, others, equally desperate for an answer, have suggested that Jesus did not actually die on the cross, but only fainted from weakness. He was buried in the mistaken belief that He was dead, and when He came back to consciousness in the tomb, He arose and left it.

How, in His weakened condition He had managed to disengage Himself from the great weight of wrappings and ointments, then break the Roman seal, roll away the giant stone at the entrance, overpower the Roman soldiers, and then search out the disciples, is apparently of little concern to the proponents of this ridiculous claim!

Nor do they explain how the sight of such a pitiful Jesus, beaten almost beyond recognition and weak past endurance by loss of blood on the cross, could have excited such a complete transformation in the cowering disciples. He must soon, or at least eventually, die anyhow, and thereafter any preaching of a resurrection could be nothing but fraud and hypocrisy.

Beside all this, there is no doubt that He really did die on the cross. Pilate was given assurance of this by the centurion (Mark 15:43-45). The savage spear thrust into His side by the soldier (John 19:34) made certain of His death, "and forthwith came there out blood and water," evidencing complete collapse of the heart cavity.

Some have thought that Mary Magdalene, then Peter and John, then the other women, all went to the wrong tomb. Such a stupid mistake was not very likely, however, especially since there was no other tomb there! This was a garden, owned by Joseph of Arimathea (Matthew 27:60; John 19:41), and no one else had been buried there.

Besides, if the body were still in any tomb whatever, it could easily have been produced by the Roman or Jewish authorities. A few weeks later, when multitudes were accepting Christ because of the preaching of the resurrection, these same authorities did everything they could to stop the spread of the new Christian faith, and they utterly failed.

All they simply had to do, was produced the body of Jesus, and the entire movement would have collapsed over night. But this was the one thing they could not do! That body, raised from the grave, had ascended up to heaven.

The Qur'an says the Jesus (PBUH) was not crucified on the cross, but someone who appeared to look like him was.

Instead, God protected Jesus (PBUH), His "word to mankind" and raised him before the evil-doers got to him.

As for the appearance of his resurrection a few days later, he re-appeared again because he was never crucified in the first place.

It is not true. Actually as Jesus was ascending to Heaven he saw Mohammed also riding a winged horse to heaven. He actually got a ride. Mohammed passed the whip to him.
So, no way the Koran can say that the Resurrection was a fraud.
Stick to the facts and you will never be misinformed.

thank you for asking. there is totally one version of the Quran. confident he's spoke of as the messiah Jesus son of Mary contained in the Quran. confident he will return to earth and defeat the anti-christ. he will lead all muslims and christians who become muslims whilst they know him. The Mahdi is a super chief which will look previously Jesus, yet his status isn't that of a prophet like Jesus. The intercession in Islam is on the day of judgment and how it happens is that prophet Muhammad asks God for forgiveness to muslims. God will evaluate prophet Muhammad request whilst he makes his judgment. i do no longer comprehend if that's spoke of as intercession. Jesus and Muhammad are prophets and are purely servants to God. we like them the two and we are asked contained in the Quran to no longer differentiate between prophets. Prophet Muhammad has larger status than different prophets with the aid of him being the final messenger of God who performed the religion that God meant to final on the earth until ultimately judgment day. advice approximately Mahdi are no longer contained in the Quran yet in Hadith of prophet Muhammad PBUH. Hadith supplies are distinctive between distinctive sects in Islam. Edit: just to make sparkling, Jesus status is larger than Mahdi. there are a super type of hadiths from muhammad PBUH that talk approximately Mahdi and Qiyama.

4:156-159 "That they rejected Faith; That they uttered against Mary A grave false charge; That they said (in boast): 'We killed Christ Jesus The son of Mary, The Messenger of Allah.' But they killed him not, Nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjunction to follow, for of a surety they killed him not. Nay, Allah raised him up Unto Himself; and Allah Is Exalted in Power, Wise. And there is none of the people of the book (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him (Jesus) Before his death; And on the Day of Judgment He (Jesus) will be a witness Against them."

It makes complete sense, even according to Biblical Accounts,
why would such a Holy Man like Jesus Son Of Mary, (we believe as Prophet or Christians Son of God", yell, "OH GOD WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME"!

This is proof of the blasphemy, and know Jesus Son Mary will testify against you. As proved here.

[005:114] 'Îsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O God, our Lord! Send us from the heaven a table spread (with food) that there may be for us – for the first and the last of us – a festival and a sign from You; and provide us with sustenance, for You are the Best of sustainers."

[005:115] God said: "I am going to send it down to you, but if any of you after that disbelieves, then I will punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone among (all) the 'Âlamîn (mankind and jinn)."

[005:116] And (remember) when God will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O 'Îsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say to men: 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides God?' " He will say: "Glorified are You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours; truly, You, only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (and unseen).

[005:117] "Never did I say to them aught except what You (God) did command me to say: 'Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them; and You are a Witness to all things. (This is a great admonition and warning to the Christians of the whole world).

[005:118] "If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily, You, only You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

[005:119] God will say: "This is a Day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise) – they shall abide therein forever. God is pleased with them and they with Him. That is the great success (Paradise).

'And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ]:'

But Allah raised him ['Iesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever AllPowerful, AllWise

And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being], before his ['Iesa (Jesus) or a Jew's or a Christian's] death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection, he ['Iesa (Jesus)] will be a witness against them. (Qur'an 4:157-159)

The story of Jesus never really ends in the Qur'an, as we are told that Jesus was not killed, but that rather, God raised His beloved prophet up to Him.

*{Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto Me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.}* (Aal `Imran 3:53)

The Qur'an also points out that Jesus was neither killed nor crucified. Speaking of the Children of Israel, Allah faults their accusations against Mary as well as their claim that they killed Jesus.

*{That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge;

And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger — they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! Those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.

Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.}* (An-Nisaa' 4:156-158)

The Qur'an confirms that Jesus was raised up by God, and the Prophet Muhammad reassured us that Jesus will be sent down to earth once again before the Day of Judgment in order to re-establish justice and the proper worship of the one Creator.
