Absolutely. I felt especially suffocated when I lived in the South where both my religious and political beliefs became increasingly unpopular. And especially since I was attending a strict religious school. As I became increasingly liberal and more of a free thinker there, I became more and more depressed and definitely intellectually suffocated.

Of course, the same thing could happen to a very conservative person living in a very liberal environment.

I feel a bit better that way now that I've moved up North.

Intellectually suffocated? no my dear sir, thats hogwash, on the contrary I relish in the intellectual prowess of my fellow peers.
