The market is flooded with business and psychology majors. People go for these degrees because they are cake degrees. If your going to spend all that money for college, why not go for a degree that not many people have, so you can get a job that pays a lot???

Sometimes there's a reason not many people have a specific degree. They can't get jobs with it!!

If 10 people in the world have B.A.'s in Underwater Basket Weaving and there is like 1 job in the world for it, what good was paying all of that money to get it? Business and Psych are pretty generic and can be fit into almost any job.

Just because a lot of people are majoring in certain fields does not mean that all of them graduate, many of the business degrees are incredibly hard to get in fact. And as for getting jobs that not many people have, it does not necessarily mean they will get paid a lot. For example, lets say that you majored in French literature. What are the chances that you will make much money with that degree even if you are a doctor?

Because it's still possible to get a job with an easier degree. I was just discussing this today with one of my professors. Many of the learning activities that people do in school are not training them for skills that they will need in their careers. So having any kind of a degree doesn't necessarily represent your preparation for the job but rather your ability to jump through hoops, as it were. Why not jump through easier hoops?

Who on earth told you these were cake degrees? Did you actually study business or psychology in order to make that assessment? The world is full of businesses that drive people nuts. These two degree are relevant.

I think I have to agree with Douglas all the way on this one, even though you're right. At least they're not the only girl sitting in a fluid dynamics class. Everyone thinks this type of thing, but I don't think you're in any position to pass judgement.

I've got news for you, psycology is not an "easy degree," as you put it.Have you ever taken anything other than intro to psych? Beileve me it is not cake! Some people prefer to follow their particular interests rather than the almighty dollar.

No degree is a "piece of cake." They all take years of work. Give 'em a break.

cake degrees?? I'm always wondering why people are majoring in art and music. I pay good money for my college classes and study hard. Then I pass some freak that just came out of ceramics class or is lugging his guitar around.
They must have 'daddy' paying for it!
