Depends on what kind of awareness program. I would say start with some very simple literature you can hand out to people that is easy to understand. Let people know what they can do, don't just frustrate them about some problem. Show people why this thing is an issue and how it's going to improve their lives if they act or hurt it if they don't. An important thing to remember is your target group, if you're talking about texting behind the wheel, for instance, then you'd have to explain to the old and the young why it should concern them.

You should probably post the name in a local news paper; or something that would let people know about it. but first you need a name and a board of managers and other important people working and planning for your program.
