I understand where you are comming from; You child is still a person and I think that It would be nice to still do everything for her as if she were older. On christmas you could maybe get her a couple of toys--an outfit or a teething toy; something that she will eventually be able to use. Even if Its something for a one yr old. The thing is for children buy ahead, because trust my is will be used at some point in time, plus you'll already have it!! :-)

I understand this situation entirely.
To make you feel better, buy her one or two little development toys and open them with her for fun. She'll love looking at the bright coloured paper, and it makes for some lovely photos.
Other than that, don't worry about it. I'm sure she will be busy napping while you and your partner are opening your gifts. In the meantime, concentrate on spending the money where you need it: diapers, formula, clothes, etc.
Merry Christmas and congratulations!

I understand how you feel however, I would take advantage of the "cheap" years of childhood. I have 5 grown children so I know what I'm talking about here. It would be better to invest the money in a bond or savings certificate and give her something small (like a rubber ducky). At this point in your child's life a present means nothing to her..it is for your own edification so don't go overboard.

A picture frame to put a Christmas family portrait in. A book that you can read to her each Christmas, start the tradition now. Just something small and simple.
My daughter's b-day is right before Christmas. The first year she didn't get any gifts because everything she had was new to her. LOL

A 3 week old does not need anything that she does not already have and certainly does not know the difference. If you buy anything, it's really mostly for you. I suggest that if you really need to buy anything, get an adorable keepsake that she can keep forever.

don't waste your money , @ 3 weeks old she has no idea what x-mas is.
take holiday pic's of her, sit her near the tree etc etc/
save it for when she actually can remeber.
its okay to buy a toy or 2 to stimulate development but dont go crazy!
