Australia is purchasing 100 JSF planes to replace it's F-111 & F-18 Fighters. Why dont they just purchase Super Hornets & F-15? These would be delivered sooner, cheaper, easier to train and service during change over..JSF will be delivered late and over budget for sure..Indonesia is taking delivery of new Russian jets soon.

I think they just want to keep up with the latest since they are so far back.. They don't want to behind their allies.

Also in combat you never want it to be a fair fight, you would ALWAYS want your side to have the advantage.. More advantages you have less deaths or less chance of loss.

Plus patience pays off, it's been proven in life. Also Great Britain is getting them too, and so is almost all the US allies.

You got to consider yes the f-15 is cheaper but their not cheap to fix. They are a aging aircraft. Their harder to maintain and take a long time to fix. Yes the f-15 starts off cheap but the budget to maintain them is horrible. They take forever to fix and put back together and thats if you can find parts for them. Almost any part on the JSF F-35 can be repaired in no time at all. Plus the different versions of the F-35 replace several other older aircraft. In the long run the F-35 is better and cheaper to maintain
