We have a 13 week old Pug that rocks back and forth on his butt and yelps lightly like he's in a bit of pain. We've had his anal glands expressed, twice and de-wormed. The vet is stumped, too. He want's to send him to a specialist (pug specialist?).

Has anyone seen anything similar to this?

We had an x-ray done, but it didn't show anything other than an unusually large stomach and a lower than normal penile bone. He goes poop normally, usually within 15-30 min of eating, so I don't think there's any blockage. However, he DOES tend to eat lots of junk when I take him outside.. The vet said he's going to forward the x-rays to the specialist, but that may take up to 2 weeks..

I have seen a French Bulldog puppy with a problem similar to that. He had a deformed spine, it put pressure on his spinal cord and caused severe pain when he moved a certain way. I would suggest that the vet do an x-ray of the puppy's back. Also, if you purchase from a breeder, try contacting them. I hope you find out what is wrong with your little puppy, and that he will be okay!

Never seen anything like this......maybe get an opinion from another vet before going to a specialist and try contacting some Pug Breeders?? Poor fella, home everything turns out ok!

I have no clue. Sorry. But you said the x-ray's showed a larger than normal stomach? Could he have eaten something that wouldn't show up on an x-ray like maybe plastic or cloth?
Suggest that to the Vet.
Get second opinions if you can afford it.
Contact your breeder.
All those things others have suggested.
I hope your pup gets better.

Has the vet ever done an ultrasound or xray on him. Sounds to me like he may have swallowed something. My friends dog acted like that and it turned out that he had swallowed a pin and it was stuck in his colon. Ask your vet about doing at least an xray. If he refuses, get a different vet.

No, but he's young and in obvious pain. I'm sure you've already spent time & money with the vet, but you should deffintly try a new vet or the specialist. Good Luck.:)

He could have some kind of blockage where he is unable to go poop, and that's causing him quite a bit of discomfort. I sure hope whatever it is, you can get some relief for your pup.

"Junk"? As in, what? Garbage? Cigarette butts? You must manage that and prevent him from eating things he can pick up in the street if you want to solve this problem.
