Yeah, I do believe that the loved ones and anyone else who's been a good girl/boy in their lives continue to live in peace and harmony in a place called Heaven. And they are also watching over you...a kind of protection.

I sometimes believe that when we die, we get the kind of existence we expect to find.
My dad believed he would go to heaven. I'm sure that he found it.
My mom just wanted to rest forever. I'm sure she is.
As for myself? I've come close to dying a couple of times, and I did feel a welcoming presence around me that I equated with an approach to heaven...I'll have to wait and see. I think that's the deal for everyone.

Yes. This stop on earth is only temporary - we existed before and we exist after. Ask some of the people who have had "death experiences" - they ALL describe the next existence in almost exactly the same way - as a beautiful and peaceful place that they didn't want to leave. Christ himself called it a Paradise.

If there even WERE a Heaven I surely hope no loved one would go there. It would be like being permanently wasted on heroin 24/7 with no need for needles. And that's not a pleasant thought at all. *shudders*

I think a proper understanding of science shows us we humans do not have an incorporeal essence that survives physical death. Having said that, I believe it's important that we cherish the memories we have of our loved ones—that's how they can live on after their deaths.

No I don't. There is no scriptural proof to support that idea. The Bible clearly says that the "dead are conscious of nothing at all." (Ecclesiastes 9:5) "For dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19) "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish." (Psalms 146:4) Psalms 37:10,11,and 29 tells us what to expect for our future. Good post. Peace!

You guys always want evidence. They tell you that you have a brain and you believe that but you've never seen it. Thats called faith in what you don't see. I don't hear you asking for evidence on that subject.

No. I believe the dead are asleep in the grave at this point waiting for Jesus to come back and quicken them.
