When I was about 3. I started teaching my kids when they started being able to say words and by age 3 they could count and by age 5 they could read anything you put in front of them and now at ages 10 and 8 they are both in gifted classes. Kids can learn more than people give them credit for!

My first born could count to ten by 18mths but that is unusual. My second born didn't count to ten until age 2. Mainly because I really worked on it with them. We played alot of games with the numbers and read alot of books with numbers. It was the same with ABC's.
