Tonight was our annual Holiday Office Party at work. We had a Yankee Swap which is where you pick a gift, unwrap it in front of everyone.. decide if you want to keep it, if you don't.. you trade with someone else. Well one of my co-workers was last and go the gag gift of the evening which was 2 boxes of condoms and a jar of vasaline. As I was going to leave, she asked me if I wanted them right in front of our CEO.

Would this bother any of you if your co-worker did this?

No I don't think I would be bothered with a question like that. I assume that the gift was chosen and opened with a good sense of humor and that is probably all your co-worker was trying to do....keep the joke going. Don't take it too personal....so what if the CEO was there..he puts his pants on the same way you do...he just signs a check with more zero's than you. He was part of the gift exchange wasn't he?
If there was liquor at the event then I REALLY REALLY wouldn't take it personal at all. She probably asked everyone that was leaving the same question.

I would take it as a joke and move on. If I was truly offended, then I would let the person know that such inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated from me even at a party and make it clear that it cannot happen again. Depends on how the person said it and if it's someone that I get along with or not.

Probably not it would depend on who the person was though because their is a couple of people that i work with that yes it would irritate me if they did that, but it probably was just a joke maybe if someone else had walked by this person than they would have offered the stuff to them.

It would bother me, but I could use them, so hey. No problemo there.

Are you a guy or a girl though? I know a girl wouldn't take that thing the right way probably but you just gotto buck up to the challenge. Be like "no, and maybe you should try closing your legs." ZINGER! !! !

Sounds like a not all to well thought out joke.

I would have said I got a better idea lets you and me blow them up and decorate the bosses office. If he was laughing at the gag that is.

It was "The Gag Gift", so who ever got it has do deal with it.
This co-worker has no class - she should have just taken it
home and thrown it out and not embarrass you. I am sure
the CEO understood the situation she put you in.
Don't worry about him. Tell your co-worker you did not
appreciate her offer.

Well maybe, but I wouldnt have shown it. I would have laughed and said
"Oooh no!, you got stuck with the gag gift, you have to keep it!"

Then you dont look uptight or anything.

Yes, it would bother me and I'm sure you weren't prepared for that to happen. I think a polite, No thank you, would have been best though.
