i just got a treadmill because I used to use the one in the gym all the time. but now I feel wierd using it when my boyfriend is sitting there watching tv, also, it seems so loud in my house. if i play the music or tv loud enough to go over the sound then i'm afraid the neighbors will complain (they complain about everything).

Ok, I'm a treadmill user and will continue to be 'til I drop this last 30lbs or so. Here's my secret shame trick lol, I don't know if you go out dancing or not but I make a playlist on my ipod of club music (or whatever makes you shake your booty) and daydream about being in the club, looking hot, wearing small clothes (not slutty, just not everyday), and having either a guy hit on me and dancing or seeing an ex (man or friend you haven't seen in years) and having them drool over how I look. I'm married so it's not the fantasy of a new guy, it's the feeling of being wanted based on the body I'm working so hard to get. I know it's really silly but it keeps your mind off what you're doing and you don't concentrate on 10 more mins...9 1/2 more mins...9 more min... you get the point. Good luck!!

Most likely, you probably do one speed through out your session with your treadmill. e.i. Jogging for 30 minutes with 6.5 speed.

Instead try interval training. That is when you combined low intensity to high intensity. For example, you can do 2 minutes jog and alternate that with 30 seconds sprint for 20 minutes.

That will make your treadmill sessions a little bit more fun because you are always changing your speed and best of all, be able to burn more calories in shorter time.

Interval cardio is far more superior than steady state cardio.

Give it a try.

Get an interesting book or magazine and only read this particular one while you exercise. Make sure it's good so every time you exercise you will look forward to reading some of it to catch you up. Also do some old fashioned day dreaming about the goals you want to set for yourself, your career, or your relationship. Talk to yourself, talk to God. . .or just don't think about anything and kind of meditate as you exercise. . .
