Did that Q make sense? The bigger you are, the more calories you burn? Is that a true statement? If so, how can that be?

If two people are doing the exact same exercise at the exact same pace the overweight person will burn more calories during exercise, but not after. The reason the overweight person burns more fat during the exercise is because his/her body exerts more energy to perform the same task. A fit person could walk a mile with little to no exertion, whereas an overweight person would be more strained to complete the same activity. However, during periods of rest the more athletic person burns more calories because he/she has more muscle mass.

Try using the link below and enter two different weights performing the same activity and you'll see the difference.

False. Most overweight people have slower metabolism than those with average weight. In turn, they have to do more work compared to the average weight person just to lose for example, 5 lbs.

read this article...

"Metabolic rates can be affected by age, body size and shape, diet, and exercise. A person with good muscle tone will burn more calories than an overweight person"

I know what you mean. Your metabolism is correlated with how much muscle that you have. That is why 300 lbs bodybuilder with 3% can eat over 5,000 calories and not gain a single ounce of fat.

If you are big in terms of muscle big, then you can burn more calories. But if you big in terms of mostly fat, then you cannot burn as much calories as the average person.

More muscles = faster metabolism = burn more calories

I hope tha make sense,

Yes, your question makes perfect sense.

No, the amount of work is equal, as are the number of calories burned. The weight of the person only peripherally has anything to do with it. (If you weigh 300 lbs. and are running, it takes more energy to move your mass than if you weigh 200 lbs.)

But, if a person is in better shape, i.e. has more muscle mass, it would take more energy (calories) to move that muscle than it would if the muscle was smaller.

But fat doesn't burn calories; it just supplies them.

So, an overweight person burns the same number of calories as a thin one.

yeah it's true an over weight person loses more in less exercise this cuz they have more excess fat that is ready to be burned that is why by the end of our weight loss program many ppl get depressed cuz they can't see the weightloss rate they had seen in the start

Your question is not worded properly, but you have the right idea.

The more mass you have, the more cells you have. More cells burn more energy. All other things being equal, a person with more cells will burn more energy.

Yes, it's true because the more weight you carry, the harder your body has to work to carry that weight around.
