it's because he's mixed. healers have ears that naturally stand up. they'll probably always be floppy.

It is likely due to the fact that he is still a pup. He may however always have ears that flop. It depends on his mix. Given the fact that that stand some of the time though, they should eventually end up standing pretty well.

Just give it time....I have a shepherd puppy and his ears flop over aswell....this occurs when the cartalidge in the dogs ears is not strong enough to hold up the weight of the ear. Red Heelers breed standard requires their ears to be erect. You said that he is mixed with something. Per say let say you have a Shepherd/Lab cross...the ears might not stand because there is Lab in his genetics...Lab ears do not stand....Just say you had a Shepherd/Husky....the ears will stand because both breeds in the dog has erect ears. Also playing and touching the pups ears can also damage the cartalidge in his ears....so find out what he is mixed with and research that breed to see if it is suppose to have erect ears. If the ears are suppose to stand...try giving him a good quality raw hide bone.....or extra calcium....that will help. If they are not standing by 6-7 months take him to the vet to get them taped (not clipped), or you can do it yourself...just research ear taping on google

Healer's have naturally upright ears, if you don't know what he's mixed w/ then his unkown bloodline is more than likely the reason his ears are floppy. But don't worry, both are cute on a dog

The mix in your dog may keep the ears large.
