christians always say that the book of genesis is not to be taken literally. Okay, so original sin is one of the many parts of the book of genesis.

Now, Jesus supposedly died on the cross for original sin. BUT, we have been told that genesis isn't literal.

SO. One can only wonder, what the hell did jesus die on the cross for?

you can't have it both ways.

picking and choosing only is accepted by people of faith. if i pick and choose my way through a textbook, i will fail the class. Christians pick and choose from a truly awful text that is filled with bloodshed and hate. if you highlighted every violent part in the bible, you would be able to see it with a black light from space.

Genesis is literal. I am a Christian and I believe all the Bible should be taken at face value. Some people feel have a conflict in their mind about contradictions between two things they believe like says evolution on the one hand and the Gospel on the other. It is possible to believe two contradictory things are true but eventually it comes out in some sort of confusion where it must be resolved. One cannot believe Genesis literally and hold to the theory of Evolution.

Only liberal Christians would tell you not to take it literally, and they are not Christians at all. While the Bible should not be read like a 21st century legal document, we should take it literally unless it is obviously symbolism. For example, When Jesus returns He will have a sword coming out of His mouth. That simply means He will be speaking the Word of God. Genesis should absolutely be taken literally. Liberal theology is spiritual adultery.

I never said that Genesis wasn't literal. take it literal..
But still remember that we are living in the new testament. not the old.
If you want to take the law literally, and they did in the old testament times then you have to realise that the old testament is over and we now live under the new. Guaranteed that the Old in it's time was taken very literal.
