Due to the plasticy nature of the ring, unless it was chewed into small pieces it will not very likely pass since a ring won't go through the pyloric sphincter in the stomach. If your dog is an unspayed female, the hormones could most certainly have a bad efffect on her, especially if she had a recent heat - it could potentially cause her to develop a pyometra or uterine infection.
Either way, your pet needs veterinary attention. Call Animal Poison Control (Check out their website - ASPCA's National Animal Poison Control) - it cost's $55 and you need to have a credit card, but if you need immediate vet attention, they will tell you and give you a case number so your vet can call them and get the right treatment information.
Don't wait... call right away

I suggest that you call your vet, emergency vet clinic, or the Animal Poison Control Hotline (there is a charge). Birth control can be harmful and/or toxic to dogs, but there may not have been enough of the toxic substances left in the nuvaring, since birth control is usually only toxic in larger doses.
I have attached a link from the ASPCA Poison Control hotline about birth control, although it does not address the ring specifically.

I did use it and I loved it. After the first try it's really easy to insert and remove so it quickly becomes no big deal. And you can take it out for a few hours at a time and not lose any effectiveness so I always took it out whenever my husband and I got romantic. I always had bad side affects with the high level of ingested hormones with traditional birth control pills so the ring was a great solution for me.

Call the National Poison Control Center---open 24/7. My dog ate an entire bottle of phytoestrogens, including the bottle. They only laughed for a minute. Maybe two. GOOD LUCK!

I would look in a phone book or the yellow pages online and see if you have a emergency animal clinic or a 24 hour clinic near you and call them for advice. I would think that it would pass, but I worry about any hormones that are left in it. There probably isn't very much of the hormones left, but still some. It may be okay, but it can still cause problems.

i wouldn't worry to much about it. since you probably take your dog out and have to pick up after it, you'll see it... it's really flexible so i'm sure it won't get stuck... in terms of the hormones i wouldn't worry about those either... one they are mostly used but they aren't going to go in it's blood stream or anything. if your doggy seems like he can't go poop then i would take him to a vet or find a way to make him pass it - some type of doggie laxative

If it happened within the last 30 minutes which it was most likely longer if you have been away you could pour a couple of tablespoons of peroxide down his throat it will make him vomit the pills up and do it about every 5 minutes until he vomits I know it sounds mean but that is how to do it.If it has been longer than that then you do need to contact your vet if he ate alot of the plastic or pills at can be dangerous. hope all works out for you.

i wouldnt worry about it too much. most of the hormones are gone and dogs eat crazy things all of the time so the plastic should pass. if she starts to vomit or act sick, i would call the vet asap.

If this was my dog, I would be waking my vet up, as my dogs life is important to me, and this is a matter for a vet, not for yahoo.
