Not by a long shot. There are millions of VCRs out there. Not everyone has a computer and not all DVD players are the same and of course not all discs are the same. Tape still is reliable and cheap. Of course, lots of camcorders are still being sold that use tape. Most professionals use tape still. Why mess with a tried and true medium? There is lots of talk that tape is obsolete just so people can sell more discs. Yes, tape will go away but not for a long time yet.

This is a good question. Many people have collected vhs tapes for so long that it is very hard to part with them.With todays technologies, people don't want to feel left out. Almost everyone I know have the vcr/dvd combo.

they are officially BECOMING obsolete... their days are numbered. cd/dvd technoloy is light years beyond tape and digital technology will be making DVD obsolete in 5 years. tapes are yesterdays news and HD viewing only makes vcr tapes worse because they magnify the distortion.

more like replaced by dvd's. videotapes are now 1.00 a piece. vcr's are arround 30.00.
