Would it be ok to leave them alone and pretend you never seen them before? Is that the ethical thing to do?
Suggestions?
Especially when they have small children?

The reason I ask this is because I saw a picture of Angie and Brad and kids in the store and thought,
Would it be alright and noble if I just left them alone as if I never seen them before? If I ever do see them in real life.

The best thing to do is just leave them alone. I think it would only be proper to just give them a quick glance, acknowledge to yourself who you have just seen and go about your business. These people have enough to put up dealing with the paparazzi who are probably just lurking around the corner waiting for them to show their faces so they can pounce on them.

Knowing me, I would just probably give a little wave, acknowledging the fact that they're good at what they do. But, that all depends on if I like them as an actor/actress. If I didn't like them, then I wouldn't do anything at all. Otherwise, I would just leave them alone, especially if the children were around, most people probably would like to bring their children up as normally as possible. Just because they're in the spotlight probably really doesn't mean that they want their children there too. (I hope this is the case, anyway)

There is no right thing to do. There's also no ethics involved. If you see them you see them, they're just people. If it is someone you admire go up to them and tell them, heartfelt, that you respect them and so on. REMEMBER, they're just people. I once saw Carlie Simon at a market and I walked passed her and whispered: ` Let the river flow, honey - you're hair looks fabulous today.'
She swung around with that big beautiful smile of hers and just said `thanks'. She said it really enthusiastically too.
Now, if I saw George W Bush walking down the street I'd just pretend I didn't see him.

I think it would be polite to leave them alone unless they are clearly doing something for publicity purposes. Even famous people must get tired of constantly being approached by strangers. Maybe a simple smile and a wave, or a thumbs-up to say, "I see you, and I like you, but I know you like privacy too."

Well, I would leave them alone. I once walked right by Steven Tyler and his two boys at a ren faire, and nearly bumped into them again later at a stand where they make swords. I pretended not to notice and tried not to stare, LoL. it was hard, but he was trying to have a nice day with his kids and I didnt want to bother him.
My fiance walked right up to him, held out his hand and said "Hi Mr. Tyler, sorry to bother you but Id just like to shake your hand. I love your music." Mr. Tyler seemed very pleased and shook his hand and thanked him and that was it. As long as your not screaming or following them trying stealthily to take pictures with your cellphone...which embarassingly, my best friend was doing.... *rolls eyes* Lol : )

Ethics don't play a part in this, just etiquette. Be kind and leave them alone. Treat them as you would any other stranger. You wouldn't just walk up to a stranger and start talking about their personal life or career, so don't do it to them. Good of you to think of this.

Leave them alone and let them be normal. Do you know what it is like to be a prisoner inside your own body-not even able to run to the store to get ice cream without a hassle? That would suck.

Leave them alone. If you saw someone else with children would you run up and smother them? No. Celebrities are just people that got lucky enough to be on tv and be overpaid. So what?

You should approach them carefully because they may have bodyguards. If you're in the clear, then say in a clear voice that you want an autograph. If they refuse to give you one, kick them, or preferably a child that is with them, in the shins and storm off. This is always the proper course of action.

If they're with their kids, or trying to eat, leave them alone. Otherwise, if you must say something, just politely say "I don't mean to bother you, but I just wanted to say that I'm a big fan/ loved you in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith/ whatever" and leave them alone.
