u can use eps or foam and create a design of ur choise and then coat it with chemline hard coat ( pu based ) and fix it to the roof so that it will be single unit else u can make it with concrete or wood and fix it up.

Cool ! It seems obvious that the best way to do a really good job of doing a very finely crafted pattern like that would be to work on it on the floor or large table using the ceiling material of your choice. Then you simply put the finished product up the ceiling making sure that it looks seamless and that you spent years creating it lying on your back on a scaffolding painstakingly painting your heart out. like Michaelangelo did.with the Cistine chapel frescoes.

there are a couple ways to get a swirl first thing you do is roll your joint compound on the ceiling4 x 4 section at a time then take a trowel and continuously make an s motion or just use a broom and do a c motion

You need a swirl tool, Trowel with teeth and a pin in one end. then you will need two people who know what they are doing as the texture has to be put on in a constant manor.
