If you have a medical note stating that you cannot attend jury duty you should be ok. I will tell you how not to be pick for Jury Duty. You will have time listen to the case. The Judge will have a chance to question you. He will then ask if you can be a fair and partial jury. Tell the judge what you think the verdict will be. This will dismiss you 100% of the time because you are no longer a fair and partial jury. He may ask you questions to try to convience you to be a fair jury, but just stick to what you said. Even if you did change your mind, the lawyers that question you would no longer want you.

If you have a medical excuse, Jury duty may cause you a hardship
because your employer does not pay you while serving but you have to prove it. The defense lawyer or the prosecuter may excuse
you for any kind of reason after you are selected in the panel. There
is a chance you may have to serve if the judge does not accept your reasons.

unemployed and serving would cause hardship
medical problems which prevent you from sitting for long periods
young children at home
school conflicts
Think of something that applies to your situation. If you have no good excuse, do the Jury Duty, it's not so bad

1. Being a convicted felon.
2. Telling the judge to go f*** himself. (That will get you off the jury and thrown in jail).
3. Being prejudiced against one side or the other.
4. Not being able to understand English
5. Saying that you don't believe people should have a fair trial and that you, and only you, should make all decisions in the world.

It takes a LOT to get written off of jury duty.
Some of the excuses that DIDN'T work when I was there
Can't miss work.
Can't afford to miss the paycheck from work.
No one to watch my kids.
Illness.
Vacation plans.
No transportation to/from courthouse.
Some that DID work.
Illness (verified, life threatening)
mental illness or defect (verifiable)
know about/ made up mind about guilt or innocence of defendent in the case. (usually not excused, but dropped by either prosecutor or defense attorney...)
or as Homer Simpson did, claim to be "prejudiced against ALL races."

2. Knowing (spouse or immediate family member) someone in a Law or Law Enforcement Field.
3. Knowing anyone on the witness list, and you can not remain unbiased (either you say you believe everything this person says, or you hate the person's guts).

Why do you want to get out of serving, it is your civic responsibility. When people refuse to serve they deserve the kind of jury verdicts that are being handed down these days.

Hello,
Well, I used to love serving jury duty just to get out of work.
When I was pregant with my twins, I could not serve any longer. Nor have I been able to serve since.
So, if you are a pregnant female, which I am assuming you are not, Greg, I am not sure what vaild excuse you can use.
Hope this helps you.................... : - O
