[india-drug] Schedule H drugs could be shifted to OTC.
The manufacture and sale of all drugs are covered under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules. Schedule H is one of the schedules to D & C rules. Schedule H includes a list of prescription drugs covered under rules 96 and 97. Rule 97 states labelling of medicines. The container of a medicine for internal use shall be labelled as follows, if it contains a substance specified in Schedule H.
--labelled with symbol Rx conspicuously displayed on the left top corner of the label.
--labelled with words "Schedule- H Drug -warning. to be sold by retail on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner only".
Rule 96 requires a conspicuous red vertical line on the left side running throughout the body of the label of inner most container and on the every other covering in which the container is packed.
This red line should not be less than 1 mm width without disturbing the conditions printed on the label. Schedule H includes a big list of prescription drugs like analgin, antibiotics, diazepam, ibuprofen, mabandazole, narcotic drugs and ranitidine.

It depends what country you are in. In the US the FDA classifies drugs as Schedule I thru IV. In Canada drugs that are approved for experimental use only are Schedule H. Let me guess: You are from India? Most prescription drugs in India are considered Schedule H.
