Be very careful i f you are buying a puppy that is smaller that AKC standards. Many breeders will over breed and inter breed to get the puppies to be smaller and smaller. These dogs are prone to health problems.

If you are determined to purchase a puppy that is going to be smaller than standard, make sure that you 1) buy the puppy from a good breeder. this may cost you more money, but you are more likely to get a healthy dog. 2) If the breeder does not make you sign a contract, including a clause to get the puppy fixed, RUN AWAY! 3) Once you get the puppy, take it to the vet immediately! This way you are sure it is healthy.

I would never buy a puppy that is not AKC registered. If you check their website, they have a classified section where you can locate puppies for sale. Also, you can go to www.puppyfind.com. Again, be careful with this site, there are many backyard breeders and puppy mills that list here. However, there are also some smaller hobby breeders that can offer you a quality puppy. Just know what you are looking for!

Finally, if papers don't really matter to you, check out the Yorkie rescues in your area. If you can't find one, call the local pounds, they usually have listings for all of the breed specific rescues.

Good luck.

I think health and finding a reputable breeder should be your first priorities here instead of the focus on size. You have had other responses on how to find a yorkie. I strongly recommend that you purchase the dog from a show breeder who is breeding to improve the breed rather than breeding to sell puppies and make money, you should get papers if you get a dog from someone reputable. You dont want to encourage people that are just trying to make money off of their pet quality dogs. Definately do more research on the breed though.

Picking a breed based soley on it's size is not a good idea. Have you done the proper research on this breed?
