Small difference, but they both believe in Allah and in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This should be enough to make them one nation.Muslims.

Sunni- Believe that the caliphs after Muhammad were valid.
Shiites- Blieve the only valid caliph was Ali. They believe he actually had a connection wth Allah [God].
