I put salt on almost everything I eat. I want to cut down, but I can't seem to do it. It's almost like I'm addicted to it. I've tried salt subsitutes but they taste crappy.

Anybody ever have this problem ??

Yup! What might help is to replace your salt with other seasonings. I agree, the salt substitute doesn't taste good at all, but if you add spice to your foods, you will hardly notice the back of salt. A good one is Mrs. Dash, and it comes in a wide variety of flavors. You might also try making your food more spicier with curry powder, pepper, etc.
Personally, I love garlic powder!
Hope this helps!

With a very few exceptions, I find that salt at the table is unnecessary. Corn on the Cob would be an exception and I'm sure there may be a few others. I used to be like you and married a person that did not use any salt. After 5 years living with her, I found that I was much more attuned to the taste of salt and it took less salt to bring out the taste in foods.

I do that, too, and I even have special kinds at home for different dishes! Unlike you, I'm not willing to cut down.
However, if that's what you want to do, I suggest that instead of going cold turkey, wean yourself at little at a time. First, use less salt each time instead of your regular dose until you're hardly putting any in your food. Then alternate having salt with one meal and the next with none. Then try not using salt at all for one day. If that works, don't have salt again the next day, and so forth. See how that works. Good luck!

I don't salt anything at the table, I only put salt in the food while I'm cooking it. I've found that this helps. It cuts down on some salt without cutting it out completely. I'm with you, salt substitutes are crappy. I hate them!!

1. Don't cook with salt, this way if you put it on your food, u aren't
getting double the dose.
2, Try buying Lawery's Garlic salt, this is easier on the palate and
u don't use as much salt.
3. Watch the back of foods u eat, try not taking in to much sodiem this is a form of salt also, this way if u do use salt it won't be as bad for u.
4. Switch to sea salt!

Try using other things to flavor your foods, chopped garlic/garlic powder/onion powder/ parsley/ cilantro or other herbs. Mrs Dash is pretty good, they have a variety of flavors which are a good option when you want to cut down on salt, When cooking and using a seasoning packet use that instead of salt because the packet already has salt in it.

You are addicted to it, not almost. Switch to a lowered sodium salt substitute and start using more herbs and spices to add flavor to your food without the salt. Like any other addiction it would be better to go cold turkey and get used to blander foods. Good Luck.

Try using light salt. You can mix it half&half with reg. salt in the shaker. As you refill the shaker, put less and less regular salt and more lite salt. I did that and we use much less salt. My husband complains that french fries are way too salty when we go to a fast food place now.

At first try to use less of it on the foods you find yourself loading it on to. Lots of salt just masks the taste of the actual food. Another thing to do would be to eat more foods that you dont use it on, almost like weaning your body off the need to use it.

Throw away the salt shaker and salt box. If you don't have it in the house, you won't use it.

There is another way to stop using it. A stroke--- from your high blood pressure you will be getting taking in all that salt.
