It might be a razor burn.

You don't really give a good enough description of this scenario, but, from what you say, it might be allergies, or like someone else said - razor burn. Shingles cause great pain. Blood pressure & sinus problems can cause "odd" things to happen to one's face.

Does it go away & come back or is it continuous?

Check with a doctor - please.

is there any pain? can you give any more symptoms? I have a severe disease that causes a burning sensation in my face and can cause red blemishes...but it is accompanied by lightening sharp pain through my jaw.

Mine occurred on my breast, and has gone away and never returned now that I am on an anti-yeast diet. Check out www.hufa.org - the yeast link, for more info.
