My boyfriend is from Mexico, and we've been together for six months (although we were friends for a year before we started dating). He's a wonderful guy. The virginity question has not come up yet, but I'm so worried what he might think when he does ask and I tell him I'm not a virgin. Not that I'm that experienced either; I've only had sex 3 very short times. I'm not gonna lie about it, that's stupid and immature. He always tells me that I'm "so different from other girls" and I'm afraid I might disappoint him.

Please be nice.

Boys are boys no matter where they are from.
You've been with him 6 months and have been friends for a year. That is very sweet. I don't think you will disappoint him. You don't need to tell him unless he asks. Don't worry about it. Seems you have a good relationship. I don't know how old you are, but you will know when the time is right. Kudos to you for not kicking off your panties right away!

Why are you so worried about imposing your ideas of sex and virginity on others? Does it really hurt you if someone else wants to wait until they're married or until they're in love? American is quite puritanical in its background and has deep religious roots, which I guess would be the sociological answer. But I'm not sure why you'd try to talk someone into having sex just to lose their virginity if they want to wait. A wide gamut of reasons exist for not wanting to jump into a sexual relationship (STDs, unwanted pregnancy, religion, non-religious personal convictions, concern about emotional involvement), just as many as you have for wanting to have sex with anyone anywhere anytime. Not sure why you're so worried about convincing people who'd like to wait that they shouldn't, unless you're trying to justify something you've done yourself that you're not comfortable with.

hmm... this is the first time I have heard anything like this. To be honest, virginity is not taken for important in Mexico. The women and young girls in Mexico move very fast. Many young girls are sold to older men, to make money for their family. This is definitely not a country who focuses on young women staying sexually pure. Mexican women tend to be more promiscuous and vengeful. Not all Mexican women but the ones I have met, and after researching. Alot of men like spanish women, but they will be the first ones to put sugar in their man's tank if he is cheating.

I do not know much about Mexican culture but I can tell you that if this guy really loves you, the fact that you are honest with him should impress him and he will accept you just the way you are!

I'm not sure how it is viewed in Mexico but if he sincerely loves you it won't be an issue for him.
