It's too soon to test but to be honest, I'll save you the cost of a test and tell you right now: you're not pregnant (or at least, it's very unlikely). If you're trying to get pregnant, you should have unprotected sex in the days leading up to, and/or the day of, ovulation. Although sperm can live in a fertile environment for as many as 5 days, it's unlikely that you're going to ovulate in that time. If you're trying to get pregnant you should chart your cycles to learn when you ovulate so you can time sex accordingly (or you can buy ovulation predictor kits, but since it sounds like you have absolutely no idea when you ovulate or even how it works, you'd end up spending a lot of money to keep testing).

I don't mean to sound rude, but you should learn a bit about how your body's reproductive cycle works if you're going to get pregnant and have kids. (And even if you're not, frankly; you should know how it works if you want to avoid pregnancy, too.) You should take a look at the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, by Toni Weschler, and/or a related website, at http://www.tcoyf.com.

As to when you should take a pregnancy test, in general: wait until you miss a period and then test. In addition to any other reasons, there's less of a chance that you'll get a false negative if you wait; the earlier you take the test, the lower the level of hcg (the so-called pregnancy hormone) you'll have in your system even if you are pregnant....The pregnancy tests work by detecting hcg in your urine, so if you test too early and it comes back negative, you'll end up wondering whether you're really not pregnant, or whether the hormone levels aren't high enough yet to get accurate test results.

Wait until your next period is late before buying a test. Pregnancy tests are accurate 1 week after you miss your period. It takes that long for the hormones the test looks for to build up in your body.

There's actually a pretty good chance you're NOT pregnant from that. You're at your most fertile halfway through your cycle, which is usually 1 week after your period ends (plus or minus a couple of days)

My understanding is that the best time to get pregnant would be when you are ovulating like in themiddle of your 28 day cycle. The beginning and the ending of your period is not the best time to get pregnant.
However be mindful that anytime there is ejaculate there is a chance for pregnancy. Especially if there is no birth control in place.

Some people try for months consecutively... and it can take a while to get pregnant... it can go either way, you can't know for SURE yet. Good luck to you.
