Make every officer prove they aren't doing anything illegal! If they fail to provide sufficient proof then lock them up until the department is certain they were telling the truth! You need complete turn around in every police department. If they're in house too long they begin to think they can get away with things! You can be held for suspicion of a crime until the DA is certain!

There is no total solution to any form of corruption. Usually if the head of an organization is corrupt the people under him will be corrupt as well. If you have a incorruptible leader that gives the people under him some moral and something to look up too. How can we end corrupt police if we have corrupt politicians and laws. We need to fix the problems at the top and the good result will trickle all the way down.

Some suggestions:
1) Give them a better salary.
2) There should be a system when interviewing the candidates for new recruits, only men/women with high moral standard are choosen.
3) Set up an independent committee to investigate any report or allegation of power abuse or corruption by police.

Yes. Give officers better pay and benefits.
And regardless of what you see on the news or what you assume from what you might see, police corruption is RARE!
I wish people would stop trying to be victims and take responsibility for themselves. The more people scream about police corruption over standard procedures, the more likely they are not to catch a real crooked cop! Until people are educated on their actual civil rights and police procedures (not what Al Sharpton tells you or Miami Vice) then they will continue to wallow in their ignorance and point the finger at everyone but themselves when they get into trouble.
I think overall the cops are honest and do what they can to protect and serve. What sucks is that, besides being under paid, over worked, and sorely under appreciated, they have these ignorant groups calling them corrupt and killers whenever they carry out their jobs. How much is an officer willing to take? How honest do you think you can keep them? The problems are not the cops, it's the people making generalizations based on what a thug says and not educating themselves on what police do and who they are, and then complain about the outcome they have.

why limit it to police corruption, why not corporate corruption, political etc. I know cops get a bad wrap, but law enforcement is probably the most honorable of all public servants. There are rare bad apples, but 99.9% of those in law enforcement have higher morals, integrity, and honor than any other profession, and def above the general public. in business, politics, medicine, or anywhere else, they won't have that level of responsibility and accountibility.

Depends on your definition of that, number one.
Technically, accepting free coffee, etc from the local gas station is considred corruption, but it happens everyday.
I don't think it is fair, though, for you to generalize, as a whole, that the police are corrupted. There are bad seeds in the bunch, sure...but overall, it isn't like what you think.

I've been against prohibition for awhile. We're incarcerating people for selling and possessing things that are primarily destructive to themselves. If you want to use meth constantly and die of heart problems in your 30's, go for it. People will break laws to support their habit whether it's legal or not. I didn't read anything else you wrote because it's very long and I'm not patient enough right now.

No, police will always be corrupt, if you give someone that much power, most will abuse it. I say move to the middle of nowhere, like in the mountains or something, somewhere not many cops rome.

I don't believe there is an answer to this problem. As long as greed exists, there will always be this problem. They seem to forget the duty they sign up for and the job is not just to uphold the law but to also set the example and follow it. Unless, there are constant checks on all levels, this will continue to occur.
