There are certainly a lot of people on here who are fairly rude and inconsiderate, but there's also a lot of communication going on here. It would be great if people could stop fighting in this section and just start asking and answering questions that help people with their personal spiritual growth, but, unfortunately, there are people on here from LOTS of different religions, or none at all, who are intolerant and even abusive. Fundamentalist Christians abuse everyone who's not a fundy. Non-fundies lash out at the fundies. Atheists attack theists as being somehow insane.
But, I just see these people as being human. We all have faults. Many of us are working to be better people. Few of us want to admit the faults that we have. So, people get vicious at one another. But, that's just people being imperfect.
But, that's just the people on here. I think that people need to try to understand one another before they can be kind. Much anger and hatred is caused by ignorance about other people's perspectives. Yahoo Answers itself is provided as an opportunity for people to communicate. They try to keep down abuse and you can always click on Report Abuse on someone who you think is being truly abusive. But, you seem to be claiming that Yahoo Answers itself is the problem, when it's really just some of the people on it who are.
I try to avoid judgement, to hold out compassion and to be polite yet communicative. I've seen people come to better understandings about others on here. Of course, even I am imperfect and give way to anger just like everybody else.
So, I think that, ultimately, communication is good. The people on here could be out murdering others or rioting in the streets, but they chose to use words. While some may use their words abusively, they're just words, not sticks and stones. So, I think if you just try to do the right thing, be polite yet communicative and shrug off the insults, you'll be fine on here. I've actually found it to be a rewarding experience to be on here despite all the abuse. Religion is a touchy subject, but we're all trying to figure out our universe, so I think a few barbed words are inevitable in a touchy discussion like this.
