As a spiritual guide, it's sorely lacking. If you want to know about stoning people to death for trivial reasons, keeping slaves and slaughtering animals to appease a "jealous" god, the Buy-bull (especially the Hebrew bible or Torah) is for you.

Well, Becky, your message has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever read. You obviously have not read the bible or you would be horrified by its barbarity. You are indeed a "sheep"!

I do. Have you ever read Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Seriously, stone your children and dont wear a fabric of two different fibers. The new testament isnt any better either.

There are many horrifying stories in the bible, but most of those stories are strictly included in the Old Testament, which in my opinion, is more a historical account of what life was like in those days before the birth of Christ. Being a spiritual guide myself, I choose to learn from all religions, because all of them have some seed of truth hidden within. Also, it is good to remember that the bible has come a long way since it was written down so many years ago. Even though they would most probably deny it, a long time ago, the catholic church was responsible for changing the content and wording of some parts of the bible, and have even left some stuff out of it. If you'd like to have a more truthful account of Jesus' actual teachings, I suggest obtaining a copy of The Jefferson Bible, which, basically, is the words of Christ and nothing more than that. That is where the real truth lies, not in all the surrounding drama that others wrote about. Another book you could check out would be The Book of Enoch, which has been said to be one of the original books of the bible that was left out by the church. Theres a lot of mystery surrounding the bible, and when you think of all the people who have had a hand in it, its hard to put complete faith in the bible as a whole. Its all highly open to interpretation anyway, as you can see by all the different sects of Christianity. The key is to keep and open mind, and a positive attitude, and most importantly, seek truth in ALL things.

I have not read the Bible as well as I should have to answer this question but I do find, both christianity and Islam as religious/spiritual philosophies without much depth. My view is, these religions stemmed from not humanity's quest to find its rightful place in the cosmos but as political movements that were supposed to offer a solution to a people under a circumstance. To that extent, both these are products of a time and therefore will never really offer what you are looking for.

I liked Jonathon's answer.

Jesus said "my sheep will hear my voice". Obviously you aren't one of His sheep. Why even be in this catagory. I don't know anything about cars. You don't see me in the Auto section running my mouth about things I don't understand. Why are you here? It is because we were ALL given the Light of Christ...Some try to ignore it. They think they can tell God, when they see him, I didn't know. But in the end, we all get what we deserve. What a great God. I'd rather go thru life believing there is a God and be wrong, than believe there is not a God and be wrong.

I don't think it's meant to be taken as seriously as we take it. It's a story, a story that has been changed again and again over time (if you don't think it has, your kidding yourself). It's supposed to represent the story of god and jesus, not god's law. I think people take the bible more seriously then even god.

Nope.

Only those who live in darkness hate the Bible and God.

Only those with no common sense hate the Bible and God.

Only those who want to perish hate the Bible and God.

Only those who are spiritually dead hate the Bible and God.

Only those who are spiritually blind hate the Bible and God.

Only those who are spiritually deaf hate the Bible and God.
