The pacifist, of course, being Jesus.

Agree-
somehow those teachings, which are supposed to be the basis of the entire religious movement, got lost along the way. Catholicism swept all that under a rug somewhere in the 1500's.

I don't recall Jesus ever "fighting". He trashed some vendor tables in the temple, but I just dont' remember the verse that says "Then did Jesus strike the villian about the head and face, saying unto him 'ye shall not wail upon these my pacifists'".

Jesus, in the Christian faith, being God, would not suffer himself needlessly to be beat so, and would not require the assistance of a mortal being to defend him from such actions. Had he, the meaning of the gospels would be wildly different. It would be, rather than a documentary of sacrifice and hope, a tale of a woeful failure on the part of the disciples.

Jesus was NOT a pacifist. Would a pacifist overthrow tables in the Temple? Would a pacifist pronounce that the mountain of Jerusalem would be picked up and thrown into the water at a believer's will? Jesus had a mission, which was to offer the kingdom of God to those that would accept it. He was not some hippie sitting in a commune singing kumbaya!

c'mon man, u gotta keep better track of ur kids.
wait a mo, u are jesus. who gets to beat u up?

defending a pacifist does not define a christian. but it might define a good capable human. but defending the pacifist with violence may be against the pacifist's principles.

i'm not christian but i'd defend a pacifist if i could.

Nope - the bible says christians should turn the other cheek and be pacifists, following Jesus' example.

And I'm an atheist. hmph.

Mind you - if I saw an innocent person being beaten I would defend them.

I disagree.

Jesus set the example by not putting up a fight as he was unjustly persecuted.

Then, at Mathew 26:51 it says, "But, look! one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest and took off his ear. Then Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword."

So clearly Jesus does not want us to fight, especially to defend him. Instead, he said we should love our enemies. Luke 6:27, 35.

Disagree. Since Jesus is God, why would he need defending? It is Jesus who defends us. A chistian is someone who follows Jesus.

If by fighting you mean being as without sin as possible then yes. Unfortunately, I am not as worthy a sacrifice.

Jesus does not need defense.

So, disagree.
