Hey guys, I'm a 17 year old guy, been going out with my girlfriend for 9 months on Christmas Day. She's my first love, and for her past birthday this year I bought her a great blue topaz necklace, really nice. Anyways, I've been considering buying her a ring, like a promise ring, but it obviously may come off as too serious.

Does anyone have any additional ideas for what i could possibly purchase for her? or make her?

I'd like to get something sentimental yet romantic at the same time.

Cheers and Happy Holidays,

Vince

Since you got her a blue topaz necklace for her birthday, a ring, bracelet, or earings to match also might be nice. If you don't want the gift to be too serious, like a primise ring, consider other options, such as a framed picture of the two of you. Also try thinking about what she's really into, like a sport or hobby, and try to buy her something that would be useful in that.

So you can still give your girlfriend something without spending money, it just takes some time and effort which a boyfriend should be doing for their girlfriend anyway. Spending a lot of time with her on/around Christmas is important but you cant do something that you would do any other time of the year. Make it special, something you wouldn't usually do and it doesn't have to cost money. Just putting some thought into the things you can do at home but looking at her interests and what she likes will hopefully give you a good idea. It's hard to just suggest certain ideas on this because every person is different, shares different interests and enjoys different things and hopefully you know your girlfriend well enough to know what she likes to do! You should make her something to share some memories/good times you've had together. I have seen so many questions on yahoo about people making their girlfriend or boyfriend a home made gift and really these presents are the best because you have put time and effort into it, and this can be the best gift of all. Think of her interests, what she likes, what's special too her, I'm sure there's something you can come up with. You could always make a collage of photos of you both together of different special memories you've shared together. Make her a card with a heartfelt message in it and remember to keep reminding her how much she means to you! Hope this helps and good luck :)

Wow, 17 and considering a promise ring. Are you sure you want to make that statement? Are you going to go to college? Most guys don't consider marriage until around age 28. Sooo ... I'd stay away from the ring. But jewelery is always a hit with the ladies! How about a bracelet with heart shaped stones/charms? Or heart shaped pendant. Or tickets to a concert or a musical? She'll like whatever you get her :)

Start out with something simple a diamond ring will cost alot and might scare her off so try a claddagh ring and or a mixed tape girls love that kind of stuff its romantic and mushy and the mix shows you put effort

hope that helps

Yo, I think a ring would be cool. The ladies always love jewelry. don't make her anything. Yeah she will know that you care about her but I mean she could use jewelry more. Don't get her anything ridiculous. just a nice ring with a little diamond, then she wont think it is serious.
Good luck man Really

Bath and Body Works - They have bath/home wear that they are running out of in some places... Its called the "Sweetest and Softest"... They had a deal where if you bought 25 bucks worth of stuff there, they'd give you the 80 dollar bathrobe for 40. Sweet deal and you can find something for most any woman there.

If you don't want to come off too serious but like the jewelry idea you could get a bracelet and earrings to go with the necklace.

If you are worried how that gift may come across, reconsider how you might present it, or look at getting another type of jewellery.

If you stick with the ring, be sure to explain your actual feelings as she unwraps it, so she doesn't come to any conclusions...

Have a good one Vince.

I think you were good with the ring idea, just make sure it's not too serious as you said. You know, not too flashy/shiny/diamondy.

It really depends on how serious you two are...jewelry is always nice, but since you already got her some, a change is good sometimes too, depending on what she likes.

my husband, when we were dating, bought me a ring, but not a diamond ring, matching rings that were gold from Hawaii. They had beautiful hawaiian designs on the gold.
If not, a charm bracelet or earrings.
