OK, I have a new Lhasa Apso puppy and the beast pisses everywhere...please don't tell me I need to train my dog....in the process...I take him out every 15 minutes, but it's been raining lately and he doesn't like to pee in the cold wet rain...so i bring him back inside, and turn my head for literally 5 seconds and when i look back he's peeing on the floor...now my carpet smells like piss really bad....when i catch him doing it i repremand him and take him outside to show him the correct place to pee, but i'm affraid there's spots of pee i've missed and dont' know of....my apartment now smells incredably like pee and i've tryed Ferbreezing the heck out of it and using that prevacuum powder stuff...nothing works!! So please give me some ideas on what i can do because this smell is really starting to get to me and make me constantly nausious in my own house!....thanks

Nature's Miracle

You can find it at most large pet stores, or you can order it here. http://astore.amazon.com/tiaspetplac03-20

Urine Gone is really good. It chemically breaks down the urine and it has a nice smell too. However, I would still use some vinegar on those spots. Dogs hate the smell of vinegar and it will deter them from going there again. But I would lay down wee-wee pads in a specific place. Any vet will have those pads. They actually have a scent which will lead the puppy to pee on the pads alone. I have trained many dogs and it is hard work but with consistency, your dog will eventually get the hint. Sticking their nose in the pee and then bringing them outside and rewarding them when you show him the spot to go, will eventually sink in. However, when they are puppy's, it does take a while. So have patience, as I am sure you do.
Good Luck!

Depending on the extent of the problem Oreck makes a special cleaner for pet stains called No Return, this is very good. However, it sounds like you have DEEP Stains and thus you will need to Lift the carpet, replace the Pad and Treat the Sub-floor with bleach then paint with kilz if the sub-floor smells as well. --- If you want to cover the smell, then you can use a product called Alanite (*they are special lava type rocks), this absorbs the smells and then you can set it outside later (in the sun) and the smells are released outside. or you can get an Air cleaner that will remove the smells.

They Make some Products..Pet stores carry them and even Walmart That Have Enzymes that take the smell away...Believe me I have been there and Done that! The One at Walmart is Called Pet Stain and Odor Eliminater.....It helps with housebreaking too because even if you clean the Pissy areas with pure bleach A dog can still smell the pee there and will use that spot again! Its a liquid you just Scrub up the spots with it. My Dogs are Housebroken But when I shampoo My Carpet I pour some of that stuff in the shampooer Just because It neutrilizes Any Odors so Well...Especialy Doggy Ones! Hang in there the housebreaking will pass!!!!!!

Go to Walmart and buy Kids N Pets. It should be down the isle with all the cleaning supplies. Its a white bottle with blue writing. It works great on smells and stains. When you find the pee spot, soak it in the stuff. It needs to get down to the pad under your carpet. Let it dry on its own. If there is a stain, then pat with a rag or paper towel. If you have lots of pee to clean up you may want to buy two bottles. Also, you can use a black light if you have one to find pee spots. Turn the lights off and walk around with the black light. The pee will glow. Good luck.

Whatever you do, don't by Oxyclean or Resolve, I just had Kiwi come and clean my carpet and they said that Resolve & Oxyclean literally eat at your carpet overtime and don't really do anything with the stain underneath, they just get rid of the top coat of the stain. They used some kind of chemical then ironed it out to pull up the stain and it worked great. Now whenever my dog makes a mess somewhere they told me that all I have to do is spray some water on it and it will come up with elbow grease thanks to the preventive stuff they used on my carpet and it works...woohoo! I highly suggest calling kiwi and having them come in and doing a pet treatment on your carpet. It may cost an arm and a leg the first time, but after that, it is only $4 a room for a year. Speaking of which, I need to call them and have them come in next week for my next cleaning. =) Yay!!

Natures Miracle is the best you can get it at any local pet store! Also you should have your carpets cleaned! Dogs smell urine and will continue to urinate in those places! Have your carpets cleaned and work very hard on house training! You can also get doggy litter boxes! I know it sounds crazy but just go to your local pet store and ask them about it! They can help you out! Also try febreze air affects!

I had the same problem when I got my King Charles Cavalier puppy. You should try to either buy or rent a steam cleaner for your carpet so that it will get down into the padding. The powder stuff doesn't get into the padding, so that stuff is practically useless.

Ok,lets first start with training.Your puppy should NOT be out of his/her cage for the first couple of days.Only take your dog out to pee or to play kitchen area is where i do it,but only for maybe a half hour.Keep this up for a few day and your dog should get used to it.

A Product called Nature's Miracle sold at PetSmart or PetCo in the US. It neutralizes the Urine molecules.

We used it when our Golden Retrievers were puppies.
