For some people, this shot does hurt and for others it doesn't. All you can do is relax and they them do what they need to do.
If your arm gets sore, try stretching it out a little bit and doing arm circles that always helps because it gets blood pumping to the arm. Resulting in less inflamation.

I got a tetanus shot a few weeks ago, it did not hurt at all the first day but it was sore for about 3-4 days after. Getting the shot does not hurt but it may hurt for a week after.
Hope this answered your question :)

RE:
Does a tetanus shot really hurt?
I have to get one soon, and I honestly can't ever remember getting one before, so I totally don't know what to expect. Is it really going to hurt? What should I do if my arm gets sore?

No shots hurt a LOT, it's just a quick pinch and you're done. It's really a mind over matter. If you actually LOOK at the shot going into wherever then it hurts a lot more. I learned that the hard way. The next time, I didn't look and wasn't expecting it, so I didn't even feel it.

A tetanus shot hurts after. Usually your arm will get sore. I suggest an ice pack and moving your arm around so it doesn't get stiff. Good Luck!

It's an intramuscular shot, so it will be a little more painful than some others and may leave you aching a bit. My last one really wasn't painful at all.

Your arm will feel a bit sore, like if somebody punched you. The shot itself will hurt a bit too. But if a girl like me can handle it, then I'm sure you can too. I promise it won't hurt as much as you're expecting it to hurt.
