Anybody know the stock exhaust size on a 1966 mustang with a 289. I'm not sure if it's 2" or 2.25" I am trying to get a exhaust system but I dont know the correct size for the pipes. Thanks

One possibility is the valve in the exhaust to assist in warm up. It is normally between the exhaust manifold and the down pipe. It hs a big spring on it that partially chokes off the exhaust to keep heat in the engine. When the spring heats up it opens the valve fully. Anyway, that valve maybe stuck partially closed.

Go to Napa and ask... Thats how I found out the size of my 1996 Saturn SL1 pipe size.
