Romans 4:3
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Galatians 3:6
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness
James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
People are saved the same way that they have always been saved, By believeing God.

I wish that I could give you references, but I hope the information will point you in the right direction...People before Christ were taken up to heave to be with God after Jesus was crucified and buried and then he went to..Oh I forget what it is called...But in the old testiment it is or was called the Bossom(sp?) of Abraham..What it was is like a holding place for all the righteous people,(or Jews), before Christ....and the others were separated by a wide chism....and were not allowed to enter Abrahams Bossom...
I hope that this helps in some small way.

Basically the same as today. They believed God, and obeyed Him, and did the sacrifices (blood). Today, in order to be saved we must believe God and obey Him, and Do the sacrifices; these are: our bodies Rom 12:1; supporting missionaries Phil 4:18; of praise Heb 13:15,16; of Spiritual 1Pet 2:5. The Blood sacrifice was/is provided by Jesus.

Before the NEW convenant, the Jews were judged by the OLD covenant.
As far as "everyone else" goes, that's part of God's plan. Take comfort that you DON'T have to fully understand and explain God's plan. You DON'T have to be a biblical scholar to walk with Christ. You DON'T have to be an expert on illogical, poorly formed and quite often offensive attacks on your faith. Just be at peace WITH your faith. If you don't know, just say you don't know.
Why do some people expect ALL Christians to have ALL of "the answers"? It's inane to think that way.

All the Old Testament Laws, offerings and sacrafices did one thing, they pointed to God (more acurately Jesus Christ). They were unable in and of themselves to make one righteous before God. If they were there would have never been a need for God to send His Son as the fullfulment of the Law (OT). After there death all the Old Testement Saints went to a place know as Abrahams' Boosom. A nother name is Paradise. They were able to enter into this place not based on there righteousnes but on there Faith that God would one day provide for mankind a "perfect Sacrafice". Once this "perfect Sacrafice" came (Jesus) and was recieved by the Father (Christs' ascention into Heaven) the OT Saints were able to then finally enter in to the presence of God based soley on His Sacrafice on their (and our) behalf.

Jesus Christ died just like any human being dies, but at first he descended into hell to save those who had gone before him and would hear him. Those who would hear him and have faith in him would be saved and live with him. This is still how it is today. Those of us who have faith will be saved to live with him beyond the skies and space in Heaven.
Easter has been the time of remembering the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is noted as the “good news” day because what God had promised to the fathers had come true that he had risen up from the tomb. Today we still celebrate the mystery of the Resurrection because it is “good news” that one day when we pass, we too who believe and follow, will rise to be with him. God has the power to start you and end you, so in this life we must continue to have faith in our hearts, awaiting our fulfillment of being with him, so that one day we will walk with him in Heaven.
None of us living now were able to see or live during these times and so we rely too on our faith and on the scriptures to help us understand the mystery of the Resurrection. We must believe that Christ’s Resurrection was for two reasons: First to die for us in order to free us from sin and secondly, to open our hearts to a new life through him. As a Christian, we must know that the Resurrection of Christ is a truth and that one day he will come back to judge the living and the dead.

It's very sad that you need others to give you arguments to use in a debate. It would be nice to see you thinking for yourself and formulating your own arguments, instead of repeating phrases from the Bible and from other people like a dumb parrot.
This is why the world is in bad shape. The problems of the world are caused by people like you, millions and millions of people like you. Conformist people, not willing to think for themselves, believing and repeating everything they see on TV and read on the newspaper, never taking the time to check the facts, never taking the time to learn and think for themselves.
Your sheep mentality is a stone in the road to human progress.

I'm not a Christian (at least in the traditional orthodox sense), but I know the answer to this question:
Supposedly, Jesus was in Hell for 3 days rescuing the souls of all those who were deceased.

When the Bible talks about Abraham, it says, "his faith was credited to him as righteousness"....Hebrews chapter 11 I think.
So where you and I need faith in Jesus Christ, Abraham's faith was in God. We also know they (along with the Holy Spirit) are three in the same.

It is God and only God that saves all human souls including Jesus, and continues to do so for all of us.
