What bothers me even more are all those people with access to AKO or NKO or any of the official databases offering to search the names and provide personal data. PERSEC anyone?

I know what you are saying but not everyone has bad intentions. There are many vets that are looking for friends from a long time ago. There are always listings in military newspapers for people looking for each other and groups getting together. But they have to realize that not everyone has the same idea for the information.

Some people are just way to persistent. But you are right, if the person wanted you to contact them, they would have given them their address.

+ You are right they all want the easy answer found for them or given to them. Maybe they think their friend is going to look at this site and see the request and send info to them. I expect a lightning bolt to strike at any time with an answer.
