okie dokie - you feel pressure on your ear - before it pops
NOW - how do you clean your ears????
not by sticking anything IN THEM! (bobby pins - cotton swabs)
first - put some hydrogen peroxide (capful) in your affected ear
(put your head on a towel) - wait a few minutes until the bubbling stops -= (I do it a second time - because my ears can generate WAX)
then get a squeezie bulb that holds about a half a cup of water -
in the bathroom sink - draw some warm water - warm to your touch (if it is too hot for fingers - too hot for your ear)
fill the bulb completely - lean over the sink with head tilted -
put the nozzle inside your ear - and PUSH HARD
then be surprised what comes out into the sink.
may have to do it twice
make a solution of 1/2 alcohol and 1/2 vinegar
put a few drops in each ear - afterward
this will dry the water and kill any fungus
if there is still pain - you may want to warm a little sweet oil (or olive oil) and put a few drops in the ear(and put a little cotton ball in there for a little bit to hold it in)
still have pain in a day or so - might be time to see your doctor
best of luck - Merry Christmas!

You may have an ear infection. You should not be sticking things into your ear to clean it, just washing the outer ear area with your finger with the wash cloth. You may have wax build up that has been pushed inward that is causing you pain. As you insert things like q-tips you damage the small hair like things that naturally move the wax out of the ear canal. Probably would be best to see a doctor. Yawning, chewing and swallowing are things that help equalize pressure in the ear.

I'm the ear man, i have a lot of pain and stuff, so i can help ou.
I've had tinnitus and hyperacusis( hyperacusis.com to learn about it) and it never goes away. now i geet popping and all sorts of sounds at night. It could be wax, or it could be your bones in the inner ear are damaged. I nevr had the popping until flew in an airplane. like the pressure messed my ears up. Ear drum tear also when the airplane went up. ooo that was so painful.
Um, so popping noises at yawn.. that could just be poppping of the bones in your inner ear and that i gues sjust happens as you get older...or if you're not old then check it out. maybe some bone abnormality with your jaw.
And about the cleaning, yeah you are not supposed to put anything in your ear like q tips . Clean your ears using other means. Ask your doc

RE:
How do you know if your ear drum is going to pop?
This is probably a weird question, and maybe i'm just overreacting, but my left ear has been acting weird lately.
Like when I chew on something or yawn big it will make this weird popping noise and when I clean it, it hurts afterwards.

Go to your doctor and have him check your ears. Q- tips can sometimes puncture the ear drum. If your ears need cleaning he can do it safely. Sometimes your ears can feel as if you have pressure in them, induced by high-altitude or like in my case, the tube going from the inside of the throat to the ear that equalizes the ear dumb pressure is too small. When I feel the pressure the ability to hear is also reduced, so I force air through the tube to equalize the inside and outside pressure and hearing is restored.

Well your ears fill up with wax when you get water in your ear from taking a shower and what not. Perhaps you have gotten too much water. Get them cleaned at the docs.

You have a build up of wax and you shouldn't use any pointy things to clean it. Go to CVS or a pharmacy and get some ear wax cleaner.

no - your ear popping would be really really painful - at least it'll feel stuffed and clogged...
You should, however, go to the dentist and get yourself checked out for TMJ...
